11/16/15 - trade-in day, the old with the new.

this is how i brought her home. 3" Toytec spacer lift, AAL in the rear, 18x9 (0 offset 5" B/S) XD misfits wrapped in 285/70r18 BFG Mud Terrain KM2's. 1" wheel spacers. roughly 11K miles.

    stock wheels.jpg
12/31/15 - after a few months and a couple longer distance drives the mud terrains and wheel spacers where taking their toll on me (and the truck I'm sure) so a good buddy of mine hooked me up with some stock 4runner wheels and 275/70r17 BFG All-Terrains. Left the spacers on for the time being until i could sell the XD's and get something i like better and fit better without the spacers.

    side now.jpg
3/3/16 - wore out the used BFG's my buddy loaned me after a few months and finally made a decision on the wheel and tire combo i wanted. if you didn't notice from the truck i traded in i was sick and tired of black, for the most part, wanted some machined accents since I'm not big on chrome either, was extremely pleased with what i got. Gonna throw in a few more pictures now from different views for anyone looking for a similar set up they can see the fitment...

i was expecting these wheels to stick out much farther past the fender than they did, i figured i was going to have to send them back and go with a different wheel with a lesser offset but it ended up being perfect in my eyes, i never got around to measuring how far exactly they stuck out but i would estimate the fronts where about 1" to 1-1/4" past the factory fender flares, the rears stuck out a little farther it seemed, i would estimate 1-1/2" to 2" maybe.

    overlook .jpg
3/5/16 - 2 days after i had the new wheels and tires installed i picked my new flares up from my local paint shop and got them all bolted up, anyone looking to put these flares on their truck i will say it is a super easy install, getting the weatherstripping around the flare is the most time consuming part, takes a little patience and persuasion, but not too bad. while the flares where waiting to be sprayed (3 week lead time) i had all the exterior showing bolts powdercoated gloss black (were originally stainless). These flares did provide some extra tire coverage as advertised, i will get around to pulling some measurements in the next few days.

3/23-24/16 - been so busy lately with work i didn't have time to get my LED lights installed the moment they came in, finally got around to it last week. super pleased with how the front turned out how my DTRL and corner/parking lights match now! I've been flashed several times already (worth it)...the install was fairly simple (not a wiring kinda guy, usually avoid mods like this) but after 2 days, a few phone calls back and forth with @csjumper2003 and some help from my buddy we finally got it all working right, Chris was extremely helpful over the phone and walked me thru the diagnosing of why i was having hyper-flash in my turn signals, i will be returning to him for any other lighting needs i may have and would recommend him to anyone looking for lighting upgrades, super helpful, great prices, fast shipping, just an overall great experience with another TW vendor. now for the before/afters...

review on reverse lights since they're probably the most critical: brightness is much better than stock as you can see in the first pictures of the before/afters, but the actual distance the light travels isn't much further, about the same as stock id say, in all 4 pictures where the concrete stops there is a pretty steep bank with a lot of brush on it, i would guesstimate my rear bumper was 10-12ft from the bank in all these pictures. ill let y'all be the judge.

heres a few more after pictures of the DTRL day and night for your viewing pleasure:

    LED front.jpg
for some reason these make my little dots look yellow-er than the DTRL & corners but its actually a pretty good match.

thanks for viewing and i hope everyone enjoys! I'm always open to hear suggestions and opinions of all kinds!

Looks good. So was there any rubbing with that much offset? Im really digging those wheels to man. I have been noticing everyones wheels because im in the market for a set, so ive been noticing everyone elses.

I noticed some rubbing on the new flares (factory was trimmed) and I scrubbed the cab mount in an awkward curve on a back road, I came into it a little quicker than I should have so that didn't help, I'll be trimming the flares up a little soon, cab mount isn't really a concern for me since it's my daily driver and I drive mostly highway.

How would you rate the ride quality with the spacer lift?

its hard for me to give an accurate rating because i haven't drove a stock tacoma in over 5 years now, plus side to that is i have ran the same toytec set up on both my 2nd gens. on my previous truck (2007 DCSB TRD sport) i had the same coil spacers, AAL's, and front diff drop but i also ran the carrier bearing spacer and angled axle shims (which required longer U-bolts). on my current truck i don't have the carrier bearing spacer or axle shims which i think do in fact help the ride quality, although my toyota dealership tells me different. i do notice a very slight vibration in the floorboards between 50 and 65mph which i think the carrier bearing spacer and axle shims will fix/help but who knows, could just be the A/T's or just the road surface. i would love to do a coilover set up and get adjustable UCA's and a full leaf pack but, being my daily driver and not exactly having tons of money to spend right now...im perfectly fine with the way it is right now. in conclusion, best bang for your buck? i say yes.
