I don't understand how they got clearance to fly with non functioning flaps and landing gear....probably one of the most intense flights for that pilot!

kinda looks like they had a bunch of spare parts left over at the end of the shift and just thought they'd throw them all together and see what happened o_O

What? Sacrilege! The OV-10 is a paragon of aerial battlefield observation, special operations and close air support, and general "hey, what's going on down there?" The Army used them as aerial artillery spotters, the Air Force used them as an armed bird dog, and the Marines used them for everything. It's a rare 5/5 aircraft; inexpensive, reliable, functional, multi-mission, and fun as hell.

Grandpa worked on these in WWII - SDB Dauntless
Dad has a model that my uncle built for him, I'll get pics next time I'm home. Thing has a crazy amount of detail to it, seatbelts and a functioning canopy

Most of the time we had a lift that would get you to the ladder and then you were on your own. Oil everywhere made it interesting

When I was about 12, my best friend and I would ride our BMX bikes down to the local airstrip. A red Staggering was the standout aircraft there at the time. I had never seen anything like it.
