oh, another thing I was thinking about was I think I need a fuel pump assembly since the 3rz will should be an electric fuel pump, not like the one that is in the 20r i think

Or you can weld a Tacoma sending unit in your tank

ok I just want to clarify one thing that I just want to double check on. Sending unit just tells you how much fuel is in the tank, correct? or would something like this Cell have something like the 2nd gen assembly where its the pump and sender in one. I just want to make sure im thinking about everything correctly and im not misunderstanding this. This is my first time dealing with fuel tanks period. so yeah lol...I want to make sure im doing this correctly the first time

    http://www.jegs.com/i/Speedmaster/7...Hiv35km_Id2-ZxX8vwk7JOVWgURO16SL6saAnu18P8HAQ

im gonna need a little explanation of exactly what that entails. as said above, I have completely confused myself with the sending unit and fuel pump lol. I've got 16 million thoughts running through my mind right now haha

Back in the day I put a '88 22re motor in my truck with the harness and all.
I found an external fuel pump and mounted it to my frame rail with rubber insulators, worked out well!

hmmmm, so I could use something like that fuel cell I linked, find an external fuel pump and then pretty much that setup is good to go? Im assuming the one I linked does NOT have the fuel pump, just the sender unit. so Id have to find one anyways

Correct. Sending unit just tells you how much fuel you have.. and you'd just mount your pump externally from the cell inline..

Better off putting the pump in the tank, they'll last longer.

fuck yeah dude, thanks for that! that's what I was thinking, i just wanted to make sure my thought process was correct on that. So

    Fuel Cell:
    http://www.jegs.com/i/Speedmaster/7...Hiv35km_Id2-ZxX8vwk7JOVWgURO16SL6saAnu18P8HAQ

External Fuel Pump: does it have to be a fancy one like this MSD? I can find a cheaper one? or im thinking it'd be best to just get this one
    http://www.jegs.com/i/MSD/121/2225/...FD5PfNbnmqTaWmyMC1mv28VJhlApPQodmoaAuHK8P8HAQ

Wiring: the factory wiring has the fuel pump wiring and relays if im not mistaken

    Other: fuel lines, wiring, etc.

    Then of course I need

    - Motor mounts
    - layout of how the wiring needs to be adapted to work
    - clutch lines and fuel lines routed

anything else im missing? im also cross referencing posts over on Marlin Crawler of the big 3rz swap thread

I can always fabricate a housing around the fuel pump to protect it or something or even closer to cell hidden and protected

Won't help, external fuel pumps don't get cooled by the fuel like in cell ones do.

If you go external buy two. Leave one and the tools needed in the truck as a spare.

This is true.. external are cheap and dirty. Internal are much more reliable
