Check you tire pressure, and frequent oil changes also help with the MPG.
I keep my tires at 3-4 lbs below the load max.
On mine its 44psi so I keep them at 41psi for best gas mileage and max tire life.
However, you may loose a bit of ride comfort and traction in the trade.
They have worked fine for me at 41psi on and off road, but if I was to go into deep mud, I’d have to go down to 18-14 psi.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your truck OP...looks great! 9K on mine and I would say I agree with you about the truck adapting to your driving habits...but I don't want to argue with anyone on here! Lol

Where does Toyota say this? Not trying to ruffle any feathers, I am just genuinely curious about what Toyota says about it.

    TacoJonn,
I will see if I can find it again. With todays vehicles, typically 500 miles and you are good to go. When I read this it stuck out like a sore thumb and made me go.... whaaaat!

It's been raining here for 2 weeks straight and I gave my taco a wash today. I love this truck! It has exceeded any expectations I have for it.

There is a difference between a transmission breaking in mechanically and a transmission control module or ECU "learning" or adapting to your driving habits and changing shift points and other things.

Got to say this is a great forum, but I was cautious of joining, as with any forum people always report issues that you never knew excisted. It then starts you doubting your purchase decision when you read all the "bad things and how Toyota messed up" posts.
I'm also a pro photographer and it's the same with the photography forums. Take it all with a pinch of salt and enjoy the truck. I'm loving mine, although it's not even a week old yet lol

I've mentioned this before. Take a look at the 'what did you to your truck today' thread. Probably the most active thread here and nobody complains about the truck. Just happy owners.

Also a lot of people out there how make problems bigger than they really are. And a few who think there are problems when there really isn't one. Then there are the shit talkers and people who instigate. Lots of second gen haters making negative comments. I can see how people can be easily swayed into buying something else. I'm in the market to buy a new truck soon and that's the reason I'm here. If it wasn't for me owning a few good Toyotas in years past, and working on cars and trucks for a living, just reading these forums I would probably shy away from buying a new Tacoma also. However I see, hear, and deal with customers complaining about their cars and trucks all the time. Some stuff is without warrant. Other stuff is justified but toyotas quality is still higher than most auto manufacturers. Is it as good as it was 10-15 years ago? No but nothing really is. Everything is made cheaper, and there are so many components that rely on other components and computers that 1 small failure can have a chain reaction and effect several different things in different ways. I work with a lot of electronics. Seen tons of crazy things happen for no reason, totally unexplainable. Everything in your car is controlled/ran by computers, software and electronics now. Shit happens. Software is flawed, ect. Happens with every auto manufacture.

Just chalk up your problems to solar flares and call it a day :notsure:

It tries to find a very strong average and read your consistency with trips. Given how large toyota is I don't think it's far fetched to believe they have a significant investment on this systems effectiveness and complexity.

The same Toyota that hasn't bothered to check Auto Trans Fluid levels before shipping to the USA and then gives customers the run-around when they request assistance in this area? The same Toyota that hasn't fixed a driveline vibration issue in what...over a decade?

The capacity of the last gen transmission is something along 11L of total capacity. A Liter low is within 10%, which is still acceptable. As far as drive line vibes, I'm not sure to the extent none of my friends or family have this issue so I can't make an educated comment on it. But I've been in 60k stock domestic pickups that have vibes, for whatever that's worth.
