Exactly...trucks should never have luxury interiors...they're are trucks. That and people wanting trucks to ride like cars... be more car like. Trucks are meant to be used and abuse...and maybe hosed out from time to time. Hell, can't even get rubber flooring in the Tacoma's anymore. Think '13 or '14 was the last year for it, and still needed to be special ordered.

I'll stick to my statement....Car People are ruining trucks...

We used to get the workhorse HiLux...now (with the Tacoma) we get the watered down version. OZ gets waaay more no bullshit work trucks, than they do fluff models.

Trust me I understand what you're saying and many times the progression of technology brings on stupid things and hurts things that have always just worked. I myself prefer to drive stick over automatic, which is why i am looking at a tacoma but to say that improving ride quality is ruining trucks is kind of silly, why would anyone prefer a rough ride to a smooth one? Lets not act like the tacoma is 350 sized truck that has a rough ride do to its stiff springs needed for hauling heavy loads. The tacoma is a small light duty truck it should have a more car like ride than a large truck. Further more why would anyone want rubber flooring in a daily driver? I understand if its a work truck but having carpet helps to eliminate road noise and provide better acoustics for music. No one is buying a 4 door tacoma with a short bed as a work truck and if they are they clearly dont require a large truck or they wouldnt have bought a tacoma in the first place.

Toyota used to sell mini-truck work trucks here. What happened was...fullsize trucks caught up in the mpg department, so it made small fuel efficient work trucks obsolete. I would like rubber flooring in my daily...winters are messy, spring is muddy, fall is muddy, summer is dusty...ride dirt bikes on the weekend, that or home projects...I am always dragging dirt, mud, grass, sawdust, concrete dust, etc into mine. I may not need a fullsize...but I still use my Tacoma as a truck. It does everything, from commuting, to work, to play.

Sure ride quality is nice, F350's ride pretty good...my buddy's F350 rides better than my Tacoma, because I have my Tacoma setup pretty stiff, because I actually use it to haul stuff.

Just because a person buys a 4D Tacoma, doesn't mean you can't use it for work. Just look at 3rd World countries and how they use and abuse the crap out theirs.

Here in the US, (a pickup) it is kind of a status symbol. Many who buy them, really don't need them.

Gee-sas...can't even get manual windows in the Tacomas anymore.

Car people, are ruining trucks. ;) :D

Uh isn't the sole purpose behind a 1-ton truck (F-350) to haul stuff?

For ride comparison my buddy's F350 does ride better than my Taco as I have mine setup to haul, unlike some other Tacoma owners....most don't actually haul anything. That can be said for most pickups now-a-days. They have become the family truckster than anything else. See more privately owned F350's empty than I do see full...

I could probably use a fullsize, but I make the Tacoma work. I am right on the edge of "needing" a fullsize. A Hilux with a 2000 lbs payload would be perfect...tough little truck in a small package.

Ill be completely honest, i dont want a truck to haul stuff. I want a truck to put a cap on and keep my dogs in the back so my trips to the woods doesnt destroy my back seat anymore. My one stipulation with buying a truck is it has to be stick and 4x4 so basically my options are extremely limited. Going to see what if anything jeep brings to the table before making my final decision but if the TRD pro has leather, power, heated seats then it will be a major contender. I am in the minority that i purposely do not want a full size truck simply because i know im not hauling anything but a couple dogs and camping gear in the summer so no need to buy a full size to drive around empty with like 90% of people do. Hell if subaru still made the baja id probably even think about that lol.

For me, it is a do-it-all vehicle. Commuter, hardware store runs, camping, hauling moto's, mountain bikes, kayaks, etc....seems like we always have some project going on at the house. Getting the garden ready to go here now, which means a couple yards of compost, plants, fencing, etc...

We used to own a construction company, where my F250/F350's were warranted. No longer do that...but use the Tacoma enough to warrant having at least little truck. Was looking a Subies with a trailer, but I think I would kill it. I like the physical size of the Tacoma over the fullsizes, as I don't need a fullsize...persay, it is real close. But I have a 5X8' trailer that acts as my 8' truck bed, for when I need to haul materials.

The better half has a really nice SUV, which I am not allowed to eat in...let alone jump in covered in sawdust. Where-as in a truck you shouldn't have to worry about screwing up the interior. Even today I am out in the yard fussing about in my mud boots, and needed to run and go grab something...I don't want to have to change shoes to jump in my truck, ya know what I mean?

Jeep...if they do a utilitarian truck like this...now that would be cool. Maybe not so lifted...but with a diesel and a manual trans.

Except you'll get the 3.0 L diesel diaster in a Jeep if anything. Grand Cherokee drivers love that engine until something goes wrong and it always goes wrong.

    Yeah, no kidding.

I have been looking at the Ram EcoDiesel. The WT packages are priced right, can get a 4WD under $30K... get great HWY mileage (be great for commuting), rubber flooring, heavy duty vinyl seats...but man, don't know if I could own one long term like I do with my Toyotas. Not even sure if I could own a gas ChryCoFiat vehicle either.

That 715 Crew Chief concept sure is bad ass looking though.

I love my Ram. Just saying.

All those saying they take 10k off the sticker for a reason, have you ever thought that the Tacomas are just overpriced? I think 35k for a decent trim full size 4x4 is a good price and value. 35k for a midsize... Well that's up to each individual.

Have some moto buddy's that love their Rams too...none with the EcoDiesel though.

Toyotas have always been a little over price, imo. Reliability makes up for it me thinks. However... $35K for a midsize, is just too much. Problem is no one makes what I truly want. Basic work truck with a manual trans. The Tacoma SR is real close, but can't get the V6 in the ACLB configuration....4 banger might work, but I am in the mountains enough, pretty sure I would bitching about the lack of power.

1/2 Ton WT from whoever is close too...but no manual trans.

Yep, I don't think it is a secret that 35k is a lot for what you get in a Tacoma. A huge part of the cost is reliability, and it is a definite risk to assume they will always be such a reliable truck. I plan to keep my Tacoma for a long, long time so I am taking that risk. If I was in the position to be able to get a new truck every few years, well, the other options would have had a very strong chance in my book...

Yeah seen that the day it came out, along with the camanche concept. If what they do release is anything close to the crew cheif or the brute ill be buying, hell maybe even that little camanche renagade thing would be something id take a look at.

Having owned many Toyotas' including 2 Tacoma trucks I would try and wait for the 2017, or at least wait for the TSB on this nasty vibration issue. My truck has been out of service at the dealer going on 20 days--can't safely drive it with numbing hands and feet.

I've only owned Tacoma's my entire life! I'm 34. I had a 1998 Toyota Tacoma Limited, 2013 Tacoma Limited, and now the 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport! I had a 7k equity in my Limited when I traded it in. Dodge, Chevy, Ford, Nissan wont even come close in holding their value. I racked up thousands and thousands of miles on the first 2! I cant wait for the next 500k+ miles on this one, unless I trade it in and get the TRD Pro lol!TacomaGrill.jpg
