what threaded inserts to use?

    2000 toyota tacoma prerunner v6 auto
    5100's, ome dakar leafs and ome coils, problem solver tie rods, eazycompany ditch light brackets and auxbeam osram 4" led pods, 2014 4runner wheels, 265/70/17 goodyear authority tires, soon to have 50" led bar on roof
    i purchased these http://eazycompany.bigcartel.com/product/a-pillar-led-pod-mounts and got a threaded insert riveter but was wondering what is the best to get for threaded inserts as i dont want it to rust is the aluminum ones ok or the stainless ones or zink oxide one or what...i have the aluminum ones that came with the kit... just want to make sure before i drill holes and fill them is all

    I don't have much experience with threaded inserts, but I can tell you some things about different materials.

    Stainless - tends to gall, only use if this is a one time thing.
    Aluminum - easy to cross thread or damage, they will hold fine as long as there isn't repeated use.

    What kind of bolts are you using? I would just use the same type as the bolt. What is the point of putting in something that won't rust if the bolt rusts anyway?

    Just my thoughts.

    I have stainless steel screws, and the ones that came with the kit is aluminum treaded inserts... I don't intend on taking them.off once they are on truck.. Could weld them.I wouldn't care to be honest with you lol just want to know what should be used is all.. And tyvm for responding...

    I would say go with stainless, won't rust on you.

    The aluminum will be fine for those lights. Whether you use stainless or aluminum be sure to use a little anti-seize on the bolts so they will come apart without pulling the threads if ever needed.

    I would just use what you have then, just don't over tighten with the aluminum. And +1 to the anti seize.
