You know I never thought about having a résumé ever. My reputation preceded me I guess.
They would ask me a few general questions and then I would ask a few. First question I would ask is what's the top pay in the shop. I need to see your equipment. The hours. Vacations.
You want top pay to start??? Nope I want more cause if u want me to come here I need at least what I make now plus all my vacation time. I'll give u an honest 30 days. I do what I say I can and you give me my higher rate. All or nothing.... Never lost....
Now in this feel good society they would want me to meet with the personnel manager, the feel good manager, the hurt feelings manager,... Nope not interested. I work on cars cause I don't like people in suits. All they ever did was make things harder for me or trying being told how to do my job. Give me the jobs and leave he alone.
My place respects how I work and I won't change. I respect them in turn and we get along pretty good.
I do what I need to do and they do as well. I'm honest as the day is long and if I fuck up I say say so. So if Something happens I get the benefit of the doubt. I would never disrespect them outside of work as they have come through many times when I was real sick to help me. I guess that makes it a good place to work. I rarely agree with them however.. Lol
So for me to walk in a new place and want me to do all this new stuff probably would not go well..lol.
Just the changing of the times I guess for an old bastard like me....
I don't know why I typed all this... Lol... Does it even make any sense.
Oh yea. I bought more fishing stuff tonight.......lol

Spent my first weekend in Savannah, Georgia. My liver may still be mad at me, but that is a great town. Never got to do the Spring Break thing when I was in college. Making up for it now.

Did it seem like a rant????? I was just commenting on how things have changed overall and my experiences over the years.

    Yes that's random shit....
Had a couple of guys wear taps on their shoes in school to make notice they were in the area and look at me. My father use to sleep in the chair leaning on his hand with a peace sign with his fingers.. Looked like someone tried to poke him in the eyes when he woke up.

I was told (by my grand daughter) that everything an "old person" says sounds like a rant to young people.....She told me that I could read out loud, the daily weather report out of the newspaper, and make it sound like I had a problem with it.

BTW, MORE dang rain in the forecast.....Whatta we gonna do about THAT????

Anyway, the thing about getting older, I couldn't care much less WHAT people think about what I think or say.....When I was young, I chose my words carefully so as not to upset those around me. Now days? Screw 'em! I'm gonna say what's on my mind.

Well that's what bosses do. They hold raises or don't offer them and get another year or two before the employee gets fed up. Then when they give notices THEN THEY OFFER because they are so valuable and don't want them to leave. It's all a game that everyone knows happens and all play. It's just the way it is...

And....I offered good money to a prospective employee.....Did it several times. At some point, a good employee STUCK.....and agreed to go to work here. Chances are very low that I could offer crappy wages to a GOOD applicant and get them to stay with me.
