OP, I've got a set of Bilstein shocks that came off my 2012 Sport at around 10k miles that you're more than welcome to have for free, if you want them.

I wouldn't get too upset about it unless having a real Sport was near and dear to your heart. I assume it wasn't considering your truck doesn't have a hood scoop. I don't know about your area, but in mine, used Sports and SR5s were going for the same price. If it's the same for you and your area I wouldn't feel like you got ripped off monetarily.

I'm interested to hear what the dealer says when you approach them about it. But I would approach them and see what they may give you. If you like the hood skewps you may get a free one out of it :D

    Enjoy your truck!

This. It comes down to the price paid. And a quick look on KBB shows the value of a used SR5 and TRD are not all that different to begin with (TRD effectively depreciates faster from sticker price).

It's "safe" in a sense the frame and suspension will handle it. The tow rating is actually limited by the powertrain. Install the transmission cooler if you exceed the 3500 lbs.

Thanks. Weighed the boat fully loaded and added 120 lbs for any water the boat takes on while in the lake. 17' Ranger commanche with ranger trailer with batteries and gas etc and it weights just under 3000lbs. Got the tranny cooler installed today. Its off the the ramp on Saturday. Ill see of this 2WD V6 struggles to pull her oout of the water and up the ramp.

Oh and i took the LTD badge off with the fishing line. worked great. the TRD stickers i flicked up with my nail and pulled them right off. Soaped it down and took it through the carwash. like they were never there. thanks again for the suggestions.

So i ended up going back in. Actually they called me to say the financing paperwork was declined by the lender and I needed to sign a new contract. I was pissed. I threw them the keys and said... "I wanted out of this truck anyhow, you lied when you said it was a TRD Sport, you lied when you told me it would tow 6500lbs. I took the fake badges off, good luck selling it for the same price"... see in oklahoma if a dealer does this trick {where they finance you without knowing if the lender will approve it or not on a weekend or at night then the lender sees it the next day and is like NOOO) aka yo-yo lending or "spot delivery", they cant make you refinance and you can just give them the car back. But get this.. the lender couldnt do the 6 year loan.. they had to do 5yr instead but the dropped my interest rate from 6.5% to 3%. lol. So the dealer was screwed. I actually got a BETTER deal than what I had. But i used this as leverage and acted like i wanted out of the deal anyhow. When all was said and done, i walked out with the SAME monthly payment i hade before with HALF the interest and a SHORTER term. they ended up giving me the car for $13,000.00 instead of 16,000 essentially just so I wouldnt give it back.

Alot more happpened. The manger got in my face like an idiot at one point and almost caught an elbow, and their finance guy actually started yelling at me to get out of the dealership in front of a store full of customers at one point after I told him to fuck off. lol. it was good times.

it all started today when they called me while I was at work and threatend to repo the truck becuase i couldnt go up tonight to refinance .I work until 9 and they close at 9.I told them I didnt want the truck and I was gonna give it back instead of refinance and my only day off is sat and sun. he told me they would just come and repo it becuase they wernt gonna let me just ride around in THEIR truck. Thats when things got heated and i left work and went up there.

Anyhow.. thought I would let tacoma world know since this thread had 7 pages. Those people are nasty. Got an 08 Tacoma SR5 prerunner with low milage for 13,000 in the end. Wouldnt have gone baxk up there if they didnt try their shady yo yo sale crap. Bit them in the ass.

Exaclty what I thougth they would. alot of "we didnt know" "were not a toyota dealer" etc.

Yeah, they were pissed. I asked the guy who called me at work and ended up telling me they would repo the truck to apologize. He said "no" and I said (and very calmly i. might add) "then fuck off" and boy he jumped up startes yelling GET OUT OF MY DEALERSHIP RIGHT NOW" over and over while I walked back into my salesmans office, he was following me yelling. the whole place was staring at him.. frozen in disbelief. Like he roid raged. lol My sales person said "dont listen to him, just shut the door and we will finish, he cant kick you out"..

the best part, it was a glass door and glass walls, so i shut the door on roid rage, a d smiled through the glass.
