2016 SR5 vs TRD Sport Ride

Has anyone driven both the SR5 and TRD Sport to assess ride comfort? The salesman told me the TRD Sport is better in terms of comfort. This will be a daily driver for my wife.

I test drove two SR5s and then my Sport. From what I remember the ride on the SR5 was quite a bit softer. The sport certainly can take an off ramp though and it's still softer than my old Tundra. You do get a bit more with the sport though like the better Entune system and power outlet in the bed and nicer wheels and such. But the ride on the SR5 is smoother IMO if that's the main selling point.

The main reason for this is the "sport tuned suspension". It's just a bit stiffer than the ones on the other models. The tires are alright though, and it comes on 17's.

I'd suggest test driving both back to back if possible.

 

SR5 and limited have the same suspension... Don't mean to throw a rock into your problem.

Only reason for going sport would be hood scoop, painted rear bumper, push button start, head unit/navi, 17" wheels.

 

Study all the info, do a apples to apples comparison, including used price X number of years from now. See what's best for you. For me, I felt the TRD Sport was worth the extra bucks. I got the 4x4, don't need it, just wanted it, plus it'll be worth more that the difference I paid X number of years from now. = I bet you'll fall in love with the truck and try to "borrow" it from your wife often.

 

Plus climte control, heated seats and mirrors, auto headlights, auto dimming rearview mirror. Might be more but that is of the top of my head.

 

I think by comfort they would say that the sr5 is just not as polished. The interior just looks a little unfinished. I drove both and yes the sport has a stiffer suspension but I guess that's the ride I would expect from having a truck. I have a TRD sport with the tech package on order. Just buy what makes sense for you.

 

If contemplating between the SR5 and the Sport why not include the Off-road into the mix?

I think we've had these threads before, the sport and TRD OffRoad are essentially the same price. But you get a lot more in the OffRoad in terms of capability, shocks, resale, 4x4 goodies..

 

Ride is more likely effected by tire brand and tire size and tire pressure imo.

 

all of those things come standard on every Tacoma except for the climate control. The TRD models only get the LED DRLs as extra equipment in base package. Climate control comes with Premium and Tech package, an extra 2700 bucks.

Neither of them come with heated seats
