I'm dropping my truck for tinting the front windows this Thursday.
Did some research couldn't find a real answer to my question.
I'm planning to go with 18%
I think is the closest to match the factory dark glass for the rear windows.
    Any advise?
    Thanks.

my tint guy came and did my truck the week after I got it and said to pick what matches best and he did 20% and it looks like they are pretty much even match with the rears
hard to actually tell in this pic but they match pretty good

I would check with your state laws. Usually the tint folks know what is legal and what is not.

Yes it looks pretty much the same, base on your pic, 18% might be lil darker than the rear windows.
Here in FL is %28 for front side windows and 15% for rear windows.
    Thanks!

I went limo in the back windows and did 30% on the front, I figured as long as the front windows were distinguishable from the rear and that a cop could see me through them they'd not bother with me.

20% matches the back perfect. Highly recommended 20%.

I had this same mindset and it actually worked for many years until about 5 years ago, a local cop passed me just before I got on the interstate, 4 miles up the interstate all of the sudden I had blue lights behind me.

He tested my front windows and told me that my front windows were 2% too dark and wrote me a ticket, I told him that all I could go by is that the shop told me that they were legal when they were tinted several years ago.

I told the cop that if it is not legal I will remove it asap, he told me that if I did so then I could bring it to the station and show it to him and he would tear up the ticket, I removed it and he tore up the ticket. But he did not have to give me a break, I thought all was good because I could be seen and I took someone`s word and it could have costed me.

I believe he's asking what would match the rear windows and not if it's legal or not. Usually 20% would match the rear windows. Just to be sure ask the person who is tinting your window what would match the rears they should be able to tell you...
