Differential Breather Mod for Dummies (Pics)

I used 1/4.

 

pretty tight? just right? little loose?

 

It was a tight fit, took some work getting the breather piece in, but I eventually got it.

 

I lubed up the tip

 

It is really simple, here is my post from my thread on doing the mod... it has all the sizes and part numbers, if that helps (link is in my sig. to the thread):

 

So called today to dealer and he said pt number

$14 90404-51026 Intake Air Control Valve Union

90404-51026 isn't a part number? Any insight?.. Went through and found pt #

$8 90404-51319 Toyota Genuine Parts - Union (90404-51319)

90404-51319 are these the exact same? One looks metal other black? Can still use 1/4 fuel line?

Here was my original text to him regarding these parts: I need your assistance good sir! I have decided to do the rear differential breather relocation mod and I need two parts from you. Toyota parts numbers:

$14 90404-51026 Intake Air Control Valve Union

90404-51026 Camary Union and

$8 90930-03136 Toyota Breather Plug - 90930-03136

90930-03136 breather Union.

If you text him that, he will get you squared away.

 

i used these along with 1/4 fuel line. worked just fine.

 

Show him the Toyota bag labels, but this in my thread so your breather # is different. This is for 3/8 ID hose:

 

Your part number should work just fine though right? If I used yours instead?

If anyone wants a diff breather I snagged a few from a local pick n pull I have 4 left they are no use to me so just message me if you want one.

 

I don't feel like reading back 36 pages for an answer, but can anyone confirm whether or not he the part numbers are the same for 3rd gens? Thanks in advance.

 

Did mine yesterday afternoon (45 minutes w/ Skoal and Beer as directed in #1). Tucked my breather high behind DS tail light and zipped into place. No drilling - easy.

 

I would think there the same. Just my opinion. When I did mine I used the bigger diameter Union. Part # 90404- 51319 with 5/16 fuel line.

Thanks. I took the cubby out and drilled a 3/8 inch hole. This aloud the breather to partially fit thru the hole and stop, then slid the hose on with a clamp from the back side. It can't go nowhere. I also used dielectric grease for A lubricant to slide the hose on both fittings. It was tight.

 

I appreciate the info. I just submitted a request to my dealership for the parts.

wondering how you ran the hose. I have a 2015 so the gas cap mount location wont work for me. I was going to put it in the rear storage. Wouldn't the hose have potential to stretch and break when flexing your axle? Or did you leave slack somewhere smart to accommodate for this?
