1.25 spacers on 265 tire fit?

I've been thinking of adding spidertrax 1.25 spacers. Doing a bit of research, I ran across a few posts stating that 265s will cause the tire to rub on the fender. Does anyone have a little more info on this? Input would be appreciated.

 

No spacer required. I ran 265/75/R16, with factory TRD OR wheel for 40K miles and wheeled my truck all over.

 

I'm currently running 265s right now and have no problems with tires rubbing . I want to add spacers for the look. I've read that adding spacers to 265s will make it rub. Kinda find it weird since the they're used for clearance. Any idea if that is true?

 

Yes they'll fit on stock wheels.

 

No problems here with 1" spacers and 265 duratracs on stock trd 16" wheels

 

You will need them if you have 17 inch wheels. Not because they rub on fender but because the backside will rub on the the steering knuckle because widest part of tire lines up with a protrusion on the knuckle. It may become exaggerated when you air down.

Tire rubbing on fender depends on outside diameter of tire. AT tires rub the least; mud tires the most. You should also replace studs with longer ones for the wheel adapters will take up most of the available threads on OEM studs.

 

I know you don't want to hear this, but you have to consider multiple variables when running a 265 tire and spacer combination. If you run a spacer of 1.25 you could potentially rub on the fender, or the cab mount with a 265 during u turn steering conditions or a little before. If your caster is low you will rub, if your backspacing is wrong you will rub, and if the tire is too tall you will rub. Ask me how I know. It's not as simple as just doing it unfortunately.

265/75/16? What is your current rim backspacing? And finally, What are your current caster settings?

 

I have a question. My rear 16x8 wheels have a 4in backspacing with 12mm offset and they fit perfect no rubbing or issues to answer OPs post. Sadly they don't fit in the front due to the calipers. So if I was to run stock wheels with an inch spacer in the front but all the same tires, (265/75/R16 bfg ko2s) would there be negative affects such as the differentials or any other issue?

 

I've been running 1" Bora wheel spacers with stock TRD OR wheels and 265/75/r16 Duratracs for well over a year (and almost 30,000 miles) with ZERO issues or complaints. This is on a truck that has a total of 86,000 miles. Other than looks, there was no noticeable difference between no spacers and spacers installed.

 

Ok thanks this eases my mind a bit on using spacers in the front. But what worries me is the huge variation between the front and back spacing

 

I have 4.5 backspacing and 1.2 caster settings. Do you think this will clear?

 

You still didn't tell me the height of the 265 tire.

Oh okay. It's all the same spec mine is minus the overall track width. With an overall caster of 1.2 you will rub FOR SURE.

 

Wells that's a bummer, I was hoping for wider stance look. I don't know how I feel about modifying just yet, she's still kinda new. Thanks for the info, really helpful.

 

Get an alignment and get your caster adjusted to about 2.8-3.4*
