Zero worth bring up, bought it 6/17/2019 with 3 miles on it
You cant get a TRD Sport V6 4x4 with a manual Transmission.
You also cant get it in Black without drooping $3k on a Technology package.

I hope whoever made these restrictions has a bad case of the runs during today meetings.

You need to look in a different zip code. The site only shows what is in the pipeline for a region.

I currently own a TRD Sport 4x4 with a manual transmission, just gray. I have the premium and tech package, but no jbl. I wanted the tech package.

Yep. I figured that out after some grumbling. I still gotta agree with the OP, is that a good idea? What about the folks who want to ORDER just what they want? Most would think that many options are not available at all.

Folks need to know what ALL is available...

    You were right.

    OP is not.

Only allows builds that exist on dealer lots or are en route to dealer lots in the sales region by area code.

It's designed to get people on the sales floor - it is not a "build your dream truck from everything we offer" website. If a dealer doesn't have that truck in your area, you can't build it.

    It is 100% about sales.

Because you don't order anything through Toyota, that feature has no use for them.

You have to go through a dealer to place orders, and they can fulfill that need for you where Toyota Corp. can't.

I agree, it is a stupid thing to filter when the option is actually possible. It is a business thing though that limits most people to buying/looking at what is available. Totally understandable from that standpoint.

I had the runs yesterday and while there was a lot of discomfort during this episode, the relief following the final squirt made the whole experience worthwhile. In other words the occasional "runs" is not necessarily a bad thing.

I'm going to go back to work now :homer:

Understood, but as a sales marketing tool, isn't it a good idea for prospective buyers to be able to see what they can build before going to the dealer..?

    Yes and no.

If you're on your home internet making a build, you aren't a possible sale until you walk into a dealership.

If you go into a dealership to make a build, you're already a potential sale and in the lions den to sway you into spending money.

Gotta have feet in the door and asses in the seats to make money, Toyota and the dealers know that and have that system that is beneficial for both parties.

Customers have to be directed to dealerships, that's Toyota's responsibility - not just produce cars. They have to make a product people want, and also help facilitate those people to buy.

The MSRP posted on the build site should also have an icon of a jar of vasoline that links to actual markups.

Not the dream truck build page as others have mentioned. Designed to gets you in the dealership doors.

No worries. My gripe is that Toyota doesn't make this info clear anywhere to the user on his/her computer.

I didn't know until I talked to Toyota.

Users should be able to configure all possible options online Print and or email that to a local dealer and follow up with them about making the buy. Their site sucks and is miss leading.

    I agree.

On another note. You might just keep the truck you have. It appears quite nice. If the frame is solid, you can spend a lot on PM/repairs/upgrades over the next few years and never come close to the cost of a new one.

+1 me too exact same truck as ^^^^ he has. MGM TRD Sport DCSB tow package, tonneau cover with 6MT. I think our truck - the MGM TRD Sport has a specific build code 1743, a bunch were made off the first run and sent out all over the USA for the 2016 roll out.
