So there is so much to read here, but I havent seen any 3rd Gen's running the 255/85/r16
Is there anyone here who has, or if there is a forum page you have seen for third gens please respond back to me, with the page talking about these tires.
I'm looking at doing the BDS 3" lift and level and my tire guy recommended the 255/85/r16. I havent ever seen this tire on a tacoma, so I was curious how they effected ride quality, and if in the third gen you felt it was the best option to go with. Thanks in advance.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I think that one of the major fails is that the 3rd gen still comes with the same size tires that the 2nd gen's did. FJ's and 4runners got to have 265/70/17's from the factory so why didn't the 3rd gen's? That and the bigger wheel well to fit them in is a major fail if you ask me.

Sorry for the rant. Back on topic

Ok I'm going to be lazy rather than read through this whole thread and ask :crapstorm: I have 5100's all around set at zero with eibach springs with 1/2" top spacer that puts me at 22.5 center hub to bottom of fender how much trimming/cutting will it take for me to run 255's

Remove mud flaps and minor trimming of inner fender plastic.

Are you on stock wheels with no wheel spacers ?

No. Km2s on 16x8 0 offset. They don't hit the cab mounts. I think stock offroad wheels might need spacers.

Thats the whole point though , with stock wheels you're less likely to rub with this tire size

Less likely to rub the frame, still going to hit plastic

Zero rubbing at all for me. Although I did take those little mud flap things off long before the lift and tires.

Adding wheel spacers or going to a 4.5 BS or similar wheel increases the scrub radius and the chance of rubbing

245/75/16 is the stock size for non-TRD models. 255/85/16 is roughly 2" taller. The two sizes aren't really comparable.
