Which to buy? I bought a LEER for my last Taco and liked it good quality but that was 12 years ago. What say you? It's funny though, the LEER guys hate A.R.E., the A.R.E guys hate LEER...

I have an A.R.E. on my 2003 that leaks like crazy. I'm going to try a Leer this time around. Snugtop is not available on the East Coast.

They're all quality products. Most choose one brand over the other due to dealer availability & location.

I like the build quality of the SnugTop line. Their warranty is fantastic but only useful if you're near a dealer. I haven't had a single issue with mine yet. Snugtop Rebel.

I have had 2 snug tops look good and haven't had any problems. A Friend of a friend is a dealer here in socal. Buying my second one I considered going with are, and he said the snug tops have the best construction and if you ever plan on wheeling it's the better option. Just on his recommendation I went with the snug top again. Hope it helps

I neglected to mention the aesthetics... as Stuardoslls said, they look awesome. The color matching paint is spot-on, the curves and lines match well to the tacoma. I've seen some other bulkier models that just look... "old man" if that makes any sense.

LEER here with no issues and no leaks. By the way, get Windoors; you will NOT regret it!

My last LEER had popout side windows. Most of my use for my current Taco is for camping and hauling around a Very fat Chocolate Labrador. You folks recommend the popout or pullout Windows? Seems to me the pullout might restrict air flow (while driving) but have an advantage as more functional..

Get sliding windoors. Mine can be fully opened like @geekhouse23 shows above but also have a slider that I can open to vent the truck while driving.

Im on my second tacoma and second snugtop! I looked at a few different brands, and for what I use my truck for (camping, fishing, skiing & light wheeling) the snugtop fit the bill. Never had any leaks and the quality is great. The profile is sleek and fits the truck well. Only regret i have is not getting windoors lol

Wow great info ! "Windoors" does anyone have a picture of how they function? I see how they pullout but how does the Windoor double as a slider? I like that a lot! Thanks folks very helpful information.!

You can get solid windoors or slider windoors. Both open the same.

    Slider -

I don't know if Leer or ARE have made any changes/upgrades since that video was published. If they haven't, then SnugTop is definitely the way to go.

Those windoors are awesome. Don't know why I would need them but they're cool. Here's pics of my snugtop. I didn't go with the pop out windows, instead went with the sliders with the pet guard. My lab is the reason I got a shell.

My Brown Lab Carmella will be hanging in the Long Bed too. That pet guard is a winner!

I bought what I could afford at a reasonable price. I couldn't justify close to $3000 CAD for a chunk of fibreglass. Picked this up yesterday for $750 CAD (about $550 USD).

Leer XL with crank out seamless glass and a Thule roof rack (165 lb. dynamic load rating).

I need to re-glue one of the plastic seam window trim, replace the lock, and paint the Thule runners.

It'd black and I could pay $200 and a bottle of rum to get it painted 1G3 to match my MGM, but I think it would still look good as is on my truck. I think that I got a good deal, but hey, it is what it is.
