Just got it back from my dealer where they did the full inspection of it (not just plugging tech stream in) and it checked out full to spec. 4x4 v6 w Tow package built in Mexico. Went ahead and did the oil change to synthetic and everything else at 3K. They were wary of greasing my U joints because I blasted the entire underside of the truck with fluid film and they were afraid of getting any into the joints. I'll just wipe things down a little and do that myself. Service rep is new to Toyota and had no idea why I bothered doing that. He had two older Tacomas in for new frames that day.

Im assuming they were just lazy? I can't see why it was too hard for them to take 2 seconds to wipe the little bit of fluid film off and hit the zerks for me? He said they were afraid it would contaminate things. WTF?

Do you have your service ticket/work order that you can post up to help the rest of us having issues with the dealer actually checking ATF levels?

    Thanks

whhaaat ? no matter what mung is on the zerk, the correct u-joint lube procedure is this:

    1-clean the zerk
    2-and then inject lube

fluid film on the zerks doesn't mean they skip step one or stand there with thumb up ass questioning reality, it means do step 1

your service dept is acting like chumps.

That was my response. Its says OFFROAD on the back. What the hell do they think happens when you take one of these things offroad? All forms of crap and debris get in places. Was funny because he had two Tacomas in there getting their frames done and wondered what I sprayed and why.

well at least you won the tranny check, u-joints are like 5 minutes todo, ok, 10 minutes, 2 minutes wasted on getting a beer and removing the top.

What a crock of crap, stories like this are exactly why I avoid the stealership like the plague.

To me it's not worth the aggravation or time wasted.

    Time is money.

Cost about 5 bucks in grease and 15 minutes tops to check your u joints.

maybe 45 minutes to check the tranny level and 20 bucks for 2 qts of fluid.

If I have a serious issue I will be at the dealer for sure, but not for this Mickey Mouse shit.

Thought I uploaded this earlier. Doesn't say "we actually looked at the fluid level visually inspected" but the service rep swears they did. I've had what felt likes slipping and the clunking from reverse to drive has happened a few times. Not in a while though. Was worth the check.

Too lazy to wipe off a .50 zerk and grease me but they made damn sure they inspected those floor mats for me.
