Please refer to the limit strap question. If you have to ask you probably do need them.

Didnt run them on my last build but have them on this one. When I bought my Icons for my 08 I couldnt be sold on resis because I was on a budget and I really wanted TC uppers and lowers.
With this build I sold off those Icons and all my new OEM parts and was able to buy these Kings used. It was just in my favor that they came with for a great price.

Can I tell the difference? Yes
Is it cause the Kings are custom valved over off the shelf valving? Definitely
Can I tell the resis are there? I honestly cant say yet.

Ive had the rears on for 3 weeks but its all valving that my ass can feel. Im going to run a longer trail this weekend and see just how different it is. Until i can get these shocks cycling amd heated up for many many miles, Im not sure ill feel the resis. I am however looking fwd to some washboard just so I can see if this flutter stack eats it up like its set up to.

It all comes down to how you plan to use the truck. Resi's add more fluid allowing a longer time before the shock fluid get hot and you get fade. Mind you it's shaft travel speed that matters and not actual vehicle speed.

So if you are planning on running the desert over whoops or on roads that are rutted bad or over small rocks that have the shock bouncing up and down the a resi is going to be beneficial.

If you mostly drive on the free way or you off roading is more forest service roads or slow crawling then you could get away without a resi. Same if you are only going to do fast shaft speed stuff for a short period of time.

So do you need a resi.....that's up to you and your preferred use of the truck.

If you ask tacomaworld....it's get resi and might as well get clickers. Or better yet get triple bypasses!

That's my understanding at least :)

    ...too much shit to list.
    Resi benefits:
    Increased oil capacity
Less frequent rebuilds (due to increased oil capacity)
Shocks are less susceptible to shock fade (due to increased oil capacity)
Separate nitrogen and oil cavities (resi's have an internal floating piston "IFP" that separate the cavities. This prevents shock cavitation when compared to emulsion shocks. Note that some non-resi shocks can still have an IFP in the shock body itself, but it reduces oil capacity further).
Allows for clickers which restricts oil flow through the adjuster orifice

@12TRDTacoma pretty much nailed it. It all depends on terrain. If you don't see yourself going much over 20mph along fire roads or anything bumpier than that, then you probably don't need them. If you want to go have fun on a slow trail with frequent breaks and difficult terrain, you don't need them. They do allow for a longer rebuild time and such that Jason mentioned, but 90% of TW doesn't need them. If you're flying through the desert or over whups and such, like @12TRDTacoma, then you should probably go get some long travel. :anonymous:

So what I basically got out of that post was… oil capacity. :D

Or not and say I did. :D

NICE. I need to install my cab and rack bushings and then order the trans mounts. I dont want to just install motor mounts and let the trans wobble all around.

I still gotta do my remaining 4 cab bushings as well They have been sitting in my toolbox for something over a year now. They just look a little excessive to do work wise and I don't got the time to be doing all that.

If you want to do limit straps maybe we can get a mod day together and do several sets. I need to install them, and re-boot my CVs.

I used to have the same clunk with my TC uniballs going in reverse. It's something to do with the Uniballs binding IIRC. It happened maybe 1 in 5 times going in reverse to forward, and bugged the shit out of me, and then when I crawled underneath, everything was tight as can be and nothing was out of place. I just wrote it off as aftermarket suspension and checked tightness more often.

Easy fix for that, tighten your cam bolts. Shit I watched my last alignment a few weeks ago and the dude basically hung on the 2 foot breaker bar (he was a really short Asian dude lol) to get them tight. I was ok with that. Alignment seems fine still after a trip offroad.
