^^ this. My first Tacoma was a first gen Prerunner TRD off road. With the locker it did surprisingly well on trails, but you have to know its limits.

How did you not know you were paying for gap and paint protection? Also, why do you need 3 brand new cars?

Yep. Depending on what kind of off-roading your doing, a strong argument could be made that a locked 2wd is just as capable as on open diff 4x4. But that's another topic for another thread.

For starters F all these smart @$$ posters.

Here's the deal as it stands. YOU bought a truck YOU liked for a price YOU were willing to pay.

How much that was DOES NOT MATTER. It's done and over with.

NOW let's move on to the rest of our life. As suggested earlier find a good local credit union and get pre approved for a loan large enough to pay off that stealership finance hack job. You should be able to get a rate close to half that unless your credit is shaky, but that's a WHOLE different thread.

NEXT, keep the miles down and keep it CLEAN. If you plan to wheel any at all apply a couple coats of wax and maybe a couple more after. My Dad always did this to the trucks he hunted out of. All the scratches from limbs just buffed right out. Do NOT make any more mods unless they are completely reversible and cheap. $1000's spent on tires, wheels, lifts, armor, lights, etc will generally add MAYBE 20% of the money spent to the resale price and will seriously diminish your target audience. MOST people look for a stock, unmolested example when buying used.

Now take advantage of the one big thing working in your favor. You bought the vehicle with the greatest resale value on the planet. Drive it a year to help get the payoff down and sell it. PRIVATELY! Through Craigslist or the like. Do a little research on what they are bringing when you advertise it and be careful about the money. Have the buyer pay the Credit Union directly to help avoid scams.

It is what it is. You paid what you paid. Fix what you can (the rate by refinancing at a credit union) and enjoy the truck in the meantime.

They'll give you a 2016 for well over market value. Also if your upset about what you paid for it and considering getting rid of it, then why are you going to add navigation? I would not spend a dime on it if I planned to get rid of it. You have a wife and kid/s and bills yet you go out and buy a third vehicle for way too much? Am I missing something here? Do you just like to spend money?

when i bought my '15 in February last year we asked about 0% (after getting little to no leeway in negotiating price down), dealer told me if i was interested in any other Toyota he'd offer me something around 1.5% or less with my credit. but with the Tacomas they didn't have to do that because they knew the truck would be off the lot in the next few days if i didn't buy it. we got a new 2010 camry in '09 for 0% apr.

they still gave me lower than what my pre-approved credit union gave me (cu gave me 3.9%, Toyota gave me 2.9% on the truck). My truck sticker price was $28k if i recall correctly (15 prerunner dcsb w/tow package. 4 miles), after TTL + Toyota Care for 5 or 6 years (buyer's remorse for that) it went up to $32k. put $12k down and financed $20k. making extra payments so i should be out of that loan by end of next year... hopefully. I hate being in debt.

12,700 miles later i have only one regret (toyota care package). love everything else about the truck (including all the money i've spent due to browsing TW posts.)

I bank with usaa and they gave me 2.49 but you have to have a family member in the military or have been in yourself. As far as head units I was looking into getting a pioneer unit that had apple CarPlay. From what I recall the unit still allowed use of the steering wheel controls and backup camera. I was hoping the 16 was going to support CarPlay but hoping the jbl isn't too far off . Good luck with the dealer. They kind of have you by the short hairs unless you just refi and chalk it up to a lesson learned.

One can never have too many light bars.
That law doesn't exist in CA. One of the documents you signed when you bought the truck was an acknowledgement that you can't return it on account of buyers remorse.
