I am looking to get off the stock tires on my OR DC AT and I for sure want to get BFG KO2s. I want 265/75/R16s but they only come in Load E. I prefer Load C but then I would have to get new wheels and 265/70/R17s. With the Load E... I don't really want to take a hit on MPG since most of my driving is city, and I don't want to ride to be too stiff. The extra noise doesn't bother me and im cool with a bit of a stiffer ride but just not really stiff. With the Load C... I would prefer these but I like the stock wheels and don't really want to fork out another $700 - $800 for new wheels.

SO, my question is... For the guys running the Load E KO2s, how stiff/harsh is the ride and more importantly how much of a MPG hit are you getting?

I love my ko2 265 70 17 c tires with trd pro wheels they fit perfectly no rub no noise you will lose a couple of mpgs but they are so sexy. Stock wheels look pretty lame in comparison 2016-02-13 07.04.28.jpg 20160211_232723.jpg 20160217_153832.jpg

I went with 265/70/17 load C and am very happy with my choice. No louder than stock tires and handle really good. Just went up to the mountain and they handled great on snow. The TRD pro wheels do change the way the truck looks.

They have ko2 in size 265/75/16 for $184.99 a tire. Unless you are set with 265/70/16

I'm a big fan of Goodyear MT/R's, they not only perform exceptionally well but they look badass too. They are a little noisy at higher speeds (>55MPH) They'll fit on a stock Gen 3 @ size of 265/75/R16. (Stock size is 265/70/R16) with no rubbing. They are 10 Ply as well. I've not noticed any MPG hit at this size.

In this same dilemma... i want the 16 inch tires but also want load c. Has me thinking I'll go with duratracs since they have 265/75/16 ... but I really like the ko2's

Anyone know how the General Grabber AT2 rides in a 265/75/16?

Looks great! How many mpg are you losing with the 265 70 17s?

I had the load range E on my last Tacoma and didn't think it rode that different from stock. I've read here there are some advantages (although disadvantages as well) to the E tires..so to each his own. Im getting a TRD Sport with 17" rims and swapping them out to 16" TRD beadlocks, and getting the BFG's on mine...the ride difference isn't significant enough to keep me from getting the rims/tires I want.

Are your wheels matte black or satin? Do they make the trd pro wheels in both matte and satin or do they only make one type? I saw some for sale from a dealer and they said "matte" but then most everywhere else just says "black". The part number for the "matte" ones is the same as all the other ones i see online.

I just put 265/75r16 BFG KO2 on my 2009 2 weeks ago. You can definitely feel that it is a heavier tire in the steering. The ride is very smooth.Gas mileage took a 1 mpg hit.

Yea I've always heard more of a 2-3 MPG loss going with load range E. If I'm only losing 1mpg I'd gladly take the heavier tires.

My stock tire size is 265/65r/17. It seems like everyone goes up to 265/70r/17 with no problem, but I'm just wondering about speedometer error. Is that a factor? Too slight a difference to bother with and you just live with it? Or can the speedometer be recalibrated to the new tire size?

Last review I gave to a member who messaged me about mine.

I changed mine out at 250 miles, so I don't have much of a baseline.

The ride is a little more 'bumpy' in the rear; not so much in the front. Might be becauseI went from a dclb to dcsb.
The handling is great; feels 'planted'.

I needed overkill for remote construction here in Arkansas; lots of sharp rock. They're holding up well.

The weight is the only real downside. You can feel it accelerating and braking. I thought it would be affected more than it was, though.

I changed mine with <40 miles to the 265/75/16 KO2's and no they DO NOT have a "stiff/harsh ride" at all. Regarding "MPG" I only filled up once and averaged >16 mpg around town. I'm hoping the MPG will get better after break in. I was also worried about the weight. However, I liked the looks of the stock rims on the off road so I went with the 16's. Good Luck on whatever you decide!
