1,200 mile assesment

Finally got to take my '16 OR out and stretch her legs a bit. My first 200+ miles have been around town and very limited hwy. Went to our property up in NY. Started from Virginia Beach. One way is 480 miles. Mostly hwy. Some stop and go on Rt 13 from Va to Delaware. Then hwy from there. Average MPG was 22.9 going up and 22.6 coming back. 100 miles are very hilly in NY on Interstate 87. So that killed it a tad.

No 1900-2400 vibes. Still has the 20-25 MPH mild buzz in the steering wheel while transitioning to a stop. Got to play with the 4H and L on the property a bit along with the crawl control. All worked fine. Sure wish we had some snow up there though!!

I've seen some posts concerning the GPS. Mine identified all our backroads fine. Jennings Lane and Hass Hill Rd to name a few. These roads don't get plowed, so yes these are "back" roads. Haven't messed with the voice commands/recognition features yet. To me, it's hard to make out the state borders with the lights on. I'm 53 now, so my near sighted vision is getting quite lame. Need readers, but don't have them on while driving.

So in a nutshell, I'm loving her so far! Get so many compliments on the color and style. Haven't gone to crazy with the mods. Scotty hitch step, NFab steps, tacoma tailgate and glovebox stickers. Still pondering what grill to get. This bling of a grill has got to go!

Just plasti dip the grille for now until you get another, if that's the route you plan on taking.

Maybe one of the reasons you are getting compliments is because the bling of the grille. I'm an old fashioned fart and the more chrome, the better. I love my Barcelona red Sport at 900 miles.

A little chrome is ok here and there. Like my rear bumper caps. But the front. Plus the style is not growing on me. Kinda looks like my first girlfriend with braces. Semi old fart over and out....

 

I left the outer ring and emblem to tone down the chrome but still have a semi factory look. Nice and subtle I think.

Mine had the 20-25 MPH buzz, but it seems to have mostly gone away after adding a Sungtop Rebel topper. I'm thinking the additional weight is helping? Next time I take the shell off I'm going to see if it comes back, and then toss some weight in the bed to test for sure if it's the weight.

Save yourself some time on that trip and take 113 instead of 13, way less lights, cops, and traffic. You WILL save time barring an accident or something coming up.

Nice looking property how many acres have you got lock up?...ps keep the grill stock..I have seen 2 "modded" grill Taco's coming at me on the hiway looked just like a dodge truck...jmho

 

Thanks! We have 180 acres left from the old farm. Located in the Eastern foothills of the Catskill Mts.

 

Congrats...One thing that's not easy to make is land.

 

I swapped out bling grill for SR grill. Happy with that decision.

 

What topper is that and how do you like it? I'm shopping for one now and that looks nice.

 

Leer 180, which is their mid-size model. The lines of the win-doors and raised top are not for everyone, but I am going for a functional theme on my truck. I like the quality and features, and wanted the extra headroom.

 

Well it looks great to me. Glad to hear that the function tops the appearance. What kind of mileage are you getting? Any extra wind noise?
