My LCA's came in. They look awesome! They came off a 2015 with only 6K on them and have all the cam bolts with them.

so i went to the hizzi and rechecked some things. looks like door opening clearance is going to be tight but should work. my dad is going to see if he can get the door to retract farther to be all the way open. the one issue is going to be the piece that attaches the door to the track, it hangs down too low. i've been checking out some companies that make slimmer versions, and i also found openers that attach to the side rather than the ceiling.

 

Is your garage ceiling a lot higher?

 

So I just got my Tacoma back from the dealership and the new springs make a world of difference. SO much more planted and solid on the ride back to work.

BUT, the stealership claims that one of my head gaskets has a 'bad coolant leak' and needs to be replaced (to the tune of $2500). I just crawled all under my truck, popped the hood, and checked over the entire top half of the motor as well. I can't find ANY coolant. It doesn't smell like coolant in the engine compartment, there's no coolant in the oil, and I can't smell any coolant in the exhaust either. I've only got 70k on the truck (literally, it rolled over 70k the day before I dropped it off), so I'm kind of surprised that I'd need a head gasket anyway.

But, since I can't find any sign of it leaking coolant (despite their telling me it was a 'bad' leak) I'm going to ignore them for now. I'll keep an eye on my coolant levels, but I'm skeptical.

If it was me I'd invest in the side opener. One less bitch you gotta worry about and can always sell the old one on Craigslist.
