fairly new to this forum, we live in mackinaw city, my girlfriend is toyota all the way, as am i, she is currently driving a 15 4runner limited, and i drive a 2012 off rd sport 4 dr. love the reliability of toyotas, and the 4 runner is a sweet ride. i never could fig out why they didnt tune the 4.0 in the trucks to the 4 runner level, it has lots more power. only mods to my truck is 265 70 17 cooper at3s. truck sits high, but it does cause an occasional steering wheel shake.

That's crazy! Someday I think I might want to build a truck that can do stuff like that.

Hopefully I'll get a UTV for silver lake trips, my build is more overland style with an RTT.

The boss still has to buy off on the idea of buying a 10-15k toy haha!

Hey man everyone's welcome at the dunes, no need to go flyin high just enjoy terrain and cool people. Moving out here from AZ is surprised me how cool everyone was. I'm used to showing up to a race and immediately watch the sh*t talkers look for the ugly parts and saying "it's not as cool as so and so's truck"...in Michigan everyone just wants to have a good time and the more people out there doing it the better. Plus you could always set up the tent at the beach for the day and kick it on the lake haha

I went out to bundy hill few weeks ago, only got some shit looks because not only was i the only Tacoma there but also the only Toyota... lots of weird looks from all the guys in JKs. Ended up bombing around though without issues. theres the guys that take it slow and theres the guys that beat their stuff into the ground. But like you said no one shit talks your rig which i like

I hear ya, lets just say ID RATHER DO JUMPS hahaha! I've been meaning to make a trip out there, but the camping situation is crazy and basically have to book it a year in advance. Any spots that you've seen or people have recommended?

I'm looking into doing some camping this spring maybe. Are there any good spots in south-east michigan? I'm hoping for something close to where I live in case I screw up on packing. I've never gone out on my own to camp before.

I've never been in a 2wd truck at silver lake. @928 Engineer how well does your truck do up against test hill? I'm assuming since you're LT the whoops leading up the face isn't much of an issue. I'm well over due for a Silver lake trip, It's been about 10 years. :(

I always stay at Silver Lake Resort and campground...https://silverlakerc.com/ plenty of room but get a spot way in advance on holiday weekends but I try to avoid busy weekends anyway.

As far as driving a Toyota in Michigan...I get those same looks from people on the hwy but they all shut up when they see it in the dunes :D

I can't make it up test without getting a running start lol. If I'm not pinned in 2nd when I hit the whoops at the face I'm backing my ass back down and trying again...usually swing around the right side of test and cut across (with clear visability) to hit the last three. Tires aired down to 7psi helped out a lot too. My truck pretty much lives in 2nd gear...fine with me since 3rd is weak so I save my trans.

Toyo Open Country A/T with about 40% tread, no beadlocks. Pretty much stock 3.4L with 5-speed MT and a love for the sound of the 5vz-fe rev limiter lol

I will say @nv529 my first trip out there I got stuck quite a bit but I was dealing with Fuel filter issues and it was starving my engine. You get to know where and where not to stop so you don't get stuck and once I got my fuel issue fixed I haven't had issues getting stuck, just a lack of acceleration
