I did get an email about 30 mins after the TW post, and have only responded to the post as it seems redundant to respond to the email at this point.

We have had some issues with the gloss powder coating on the letters this year, and trust me when I say there's been a fair share of repaints. There was a point where I personally sanded 600 letters, had them coated and they came out bad and then we stripped almost all of them, re-sanded, and coated again.

I suspect someone took these out of the wrong stack of letters, and I was unable to see the finished product before shipping (which is very rare). I want people to be happy with the end product, and if they aren't then I'll try my best to resolve it.

Ordered my grill from CCG and was very pleased with the quality, speed, and most of all customer service I received. My customer service WAS NOT because I had an issue, but was related to trying to decide what setup specifically I wanted. Matt was very quick to respond and included pictures when available of different options. Most everything you can think of can be found in this thread. Make sure to look back at previous posts. I'm posting my experience and steps here. They differ a little from the videos provided by CCG. I'm including the links to the videos below. My application specifically was on a 16 Taco DC TRD OffRoad. I can only speak for this model but I can't imagine that the other models would be much different. Hope you can get some help from this post!!

First video is CCG with how to remove the grill from the truck, then how to install the mesh:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K0Q2XJwlMk

Second video is CCG with how to install letters onto the mesh. At 3 minutes 30 seconds into the video is my emblem:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXBcSdcxXqM

These are actually the PDF instructions from CCG on how to remove grill:
    http://www.customcargrills.com/Instructions/ToyotaTacoma2016GrillAssemblyRemovalInstructions.pdf

Here's the before and after to get to the point!

My experience differs from the video posted above. The only 4 things I needed to remove (in the end) were the ones pictured here. I removed many other unnecessary clips trying to get the grill to budge. See the next picture for what was the solution after much frustration.....

These clips I found using my video camera on my cell phone and just panning around then watching the video back. I was trying anything to figure out why I could not make progress getting the grill off after watching the CCG video steps. These "clips" seemed to be the answer...

I chose to use this method to get the "nubs" off the back of my emblem. There are more ways of course, depending on what tools you have available. The key is to not scratch the front of the emblem but to get off enough of the nubs to get a flat surface to attach to the metal grill. I also used the sanding tool to roughen up the smooth back surface of the emblem in order for the Goop to have a rough surface to adhere to.

Make sure if you choose to elevate the grill/bezel setup that you don't end up gluing the emblem on and letting the Goop get through the holes in the grill onto whatever you've used to elevate it with. Bottom line is that the Goop is strong stuff. Make sure you only glue what you intend to glue!

Overall I'd say the project took between 3-4 hours of actual "labor". I'm pretty meticulous and maybe spent more time on steps than some. I let the metal grill/bezel glue sit for 12 hours before applying the emblem. I then let the emblem sit (with weights on) for 12 hours before applying the final coat of Goop to the back of the emblem. The whole setup then sat for another 12 hours before I installed it onto the truck the next morning. So the grill/bezel Goop sat for a total of 36 hours prior to installation. Maybe excessive, but I wanted to make sure I got a quality install. Thanks for reading! Hope this has been helpful on some level.

Epic write up, I like

I recall some mention of those lower push rivets that are not needed to be removed. We may very well need to rewrite our factory grill removal instructions after seeing this. If you don't mind me using them, email over some of the pics (matt@customcargrills.com) of the removal without the text on them and I'll see what I can do.

Everything you did looks spot on though. The mesh on bezel and emblem on mesh application looks textbook, and the results are perfect.

I know it's not the right thread for it, but somewhat decent timing to bring up that I just recently re-shot the 12-15 top install. Despite it being relatively trouble free for a couple years, I've recently been getting a lot of criticism over the video I have made when we first came out with that piece. We've taken a lot of returns from customers saying it's not possible to install or taken negative feedback from customers who said the video was deceiving.

In order to keep it somewhat fresh, I tried doing the installation a little different. It's the real footage of the first time doing the mod like that (just like how most customers would be as they receive it). I'm fine with criticism as long as it's something constructive so we can make something better. I think this new 2nd gen video is a good example of that. I hope the new video helps those prospective buyers.

Although I removed the lower rivets per instructions, they definitely didn't need to be removed after I looked at what they held in place once the grille was out. Not a big deal, though.

Messing around with doing color match emblems today. Should look pretty sweet on a color match bezel :D

I'm not just sayin' it to say it... but I really like this Super White version better than the original Silver Sky one. Glad I could help rebuild it for you, it looks great on the truck.
