Just looking for some input for my TW brethren. I would love to get another OR or Sport in 6-speed but recently a local dealership put a 2013 DCSB base 4x4 6 speed for sale. If I can get a good trade in for my '13 TRD OR and reduce my payments I would be in a position to improve most of the "base" options (suspension, wheels, etc) My only regret since buying my Taco has been the auto transmission, I miss having control and I just feel bored behind the wheel. I would be giving up the rear locker (don't wheel too much, but nice to know it's there), outlet in the bed which has come in handy, and other TRD amenities (seats, suspension, wheels/tires, ego boost sticker on the bed) What do you guys think?20160111_114654.jpg base taco.jpg

I doubt the dealer is going to give you a very good deal on the truck. They will try to screw you on it. It all comes down to what is more important to you. Shifting, or the other features?

I had to make a similar decision when I was truck shopping. I really wanted a 6spd, but also wanted a DCLB. Obviously this is not a possible combo, so I had to choose what was more important to ME. I chose to stay with a auto. Your case is a bit different since you can get a 6spd of the truck you already have, just need to wait a bit longer till it arrives.

Yeah, if you're imagining them to just trade you straight across, I hate to pop your bubble. They will use the knowledge that you WANT the 6-speed to their every advantage against you. I advise against the whole thing, but I've done equally dumb things myself, so take my advice for what you paid for it. :)

    You guys make good points.

You are probably right that they won't give me a great trade, I am thinking in my head that it would knock 4-5 k off of my premium (delusional I know). I am waiting to get a quote from a sales guy now. His reply will probably end this discussion ha.

What is this patience thing? But you speak the truth

Don't do it. Look for a Taco owner who bought a DCSB TRD Sport and regrets it wishing they had the OR. Trade with them plus or minus some cash depending on who has what for mods and mileage. If you were willing to travel a bit to meet someone I bet you'd do OK. Involving the dealer will lead to you losing. I bet lots of TW.com'ers would trade their sport for an OR.

Based on my findings in my area there is at least a 3-4k difference in price, even more if I sold the truck privately.

Also auto adds a little more value vs the manual

I have thought about making a posting like this, but with the bank owning my truck (not for long) it might make a private trade messy.

I love my 2013 DCSB 6peed. Fits my needs perfect. Sure it doesn't have over drive and 5th and 6th gear are close but I don't need a whimpy overdrive.

*also must truck was on the lot for 27000 I got a good deal on it. For me it was an easy choice because I don't like automatics for off roading.

Just keep throwin' money at it.
Where are you located (sorry if I missed that)? I am looking for your exact truck. There is a serious shortage of DCSB 4x4's in MGM here in Seattle. All the MGMs are prerunners for some odd reason.

I'm across the country in SW FL unfortunately. The misses and I are looking at moving to CO/Utah/Washington in the next year or so depending on how fast we secure jobs, but I'm sure you'll have found something by then.

I did similar except found a 6spd trd sport. Dealer gave me 30500 for my trade in (2015 OR auto trans) and sold me a 14 6spd for 28500

Sounds like a great deal, would like to find something similar to that, I just started looking at listings, how long did it take to find that and are you happy with your decision?
