LOVED my E90 M3 but it really sucked at hauling sheets of plywood and offroading.

Ground the throttle body to the engine block for better throttle response and then do a transmission relearn procedure for tighter shifting. This may require the use of a factory or high end scan tool to do so. (bearing your transmission fluid level is correct) For the best results.

    You are welcome.

You mean you couldn't just use the old, "stick your arm out the window and hold the plywood on the roof", technique?

OP-I tried your suggestion today. Didn't notice much, if any, gains in acceleration.
    Was worth a shot.

Only thing that does work is the ETC button.
Looking forward to someone coming out with motor mods. A few more ft pounds of torque would make it the perfect truck.

That method was ok until I got it up to 140. I got a little uncomfortable when all four wheels were off the ground.

Just side step the clutch at like 6000 rpm and let me know what happens. Also, have some take pictures. Thanks.

I didn't think turning the traction deal off did much... but if i hit the ect button I get exactly what you are looking for, it feels like it steepens the curve quite a bit.

Thanks for the Tip. I turned traction control off . Like the way it runs and shifts quicker.

I must agree. These trucks are sluggish even with the manual which I have. My 09 on 33's would whoop the snot out of my 16 I just bought on donuts.
Regretting a little I am not in a new 5.0 f150 which I was torn between when buying.

I too am blown away with how obnoxious 20% of this forum is with their responses. They don't approach the topic at hand, they instead take offense to your topic and attack you as the O/P for having that opinion or thought.

No surprise though in today's society of progressive ideals and designated "safe spaces". A society were we aggressively block or protest ideas we don't want to hear. I just expected more from a truck community.

I used to be very active on forums. I even have a modified taco right now, with tons of professional photos of the progress, and I'm hesitant to post anything because of how many enflamed cunts are on this board.

^ @MGCPNGN7 I don't think being an asshat on a forum has anything to do with being progressive or not. Plenty of conversative asshats around here too. Off topic.

On topic. I still think the nonlinear throttle control, within the engine programming, which doesn't allow you 100% of throttle input immediately upon foot-request has something to do with this lug feeling. The "jerk" of acceleration is slowed immediately upon hard input to the throttle...which would feel like the truck is slowing, even while accelerating (I think).

Basically, if you jab the throttle hard, the truck starts to accel quick, but then the throttle control suddenly dampers down your request, so the rate at which you are accelerating suddenly dampens, even though you are still accelerating. That drop in "jerk", also known as jolt, surge, or lurch (the 2nd derivative of velocity, or the derivative of acceleration) would explain the feeling of gutlessness, even if the truck has respectable numbers.

The Nonlinear Throttle Control in the truck is messing with the rate at which you change your rate of acceleration. Sad face.

So what you're saying is that you're looking for one of those "safe spaces".....

I have found just hitting the traction control button quickly one time give me better response off the line. Doing so keeps the brake based traction control to prevent/limit tire spin but removes the throttle reduction component of the traction control system response. So, you still get "traction control" without the sluggish response. It also keeps stability control active, which could be a good thing.

The system may respond differently to the single press if you are moving vs. stopped. (sorry, not pulling up the manual to confirm)

I had an incident where I needed to get out in front of traffic and when I stomped the pedal it was like I was 100hp down in power. I read up on the system and the solution works for me.

I generally also use the ECT Power button as needed.
