Its a good start . May not be the answer you guys are looking for but at least they are acknowledging there is a problem .
    I will celebrate a victory when I see a TSB .

I think the truck fared well. From a visual inspection the bumper, bumper mounts, and the hitch have all been damaged...hopefully no frame damage.

I too pinned the thermostat and checked the fluid the second time this morning. I did not need to add any more fluid this time. I added about 20 oz. the first time I checked.

So I took mine to the dealer yesterday. It was exhibiting a hard clunk when coming back down into first gear and some shudder at certain low RPM's. Toyota techs examined the transmission fluid, added a small amount to top it off. They indicate that everything is operating as it should. I believe them that they actually checked the fluid because the tech explained the entire process to me and it jives with the documentation on this thread. Has anyone else been feeling this hard shift into first or shudder? Tell me I am making it up in my head and my trans is fine. I may just have to check it myself...

Are you talking about jumping the terminals on the OBD connector?

Mine checked out as filled to spec. Mexican TRD offroad with tow package. Sounds like I got lucky or they did PDI properly. Got the first post break in oil change done early for shiggles. 3,000 miles on it. They didn't grease my UJoints at the appointment due to my overkill with the fluid film. Some spray ended up on the zerks and apparently they were "scared they might get some in there" thus causing my truck to explode. Heading to my neighbor's to borrow his grease gun and do the joints on my own.

Seem to be the ones from Amazon.
I like the manual fill option ,seems to be less complicated, however didn't see diagrams or pics of where things are. Seems to be on passenger side.Is the subscription service manual have this type info....

The pdf's at the bottom of the first post are exactly what is in the service manual.

The OBD connector is under the dash on the drivers side near the hood release. It's a little hard to see and is upside down compared to the picture in the service manual.

Dropping off my Sport w/ tow pkg. today for the overnight stay @ Arlington Toyota in Jax, FL.

Dealing with same issues; erratic shifting, engagement lag time between R > D and hard downshifts. Will update tomorrow.

Dropped off my mom's new truck at the dealership. Wished I would have checked forum before dropping off. The SOB service writer was quite condensing about my concerns with the transmission slipping. Basically he said that all toyotas trucks have a hard shifting when cold. I will call corporate ASAP. Will keep the community updated.

Mine shudders coming to a stop and sometimes clunks hard. Reverse to drive there is a hesitation. They checked my fluid level and said it was to spec

Nope they had the truck all day to let it cool down to temp, said they checked the fluid level and sent me on my way, told me "it was the way the 6 speed shifts"
