Thanks for the encourgament guys!....guess I'll find out what sort of issue's "if any" I'll get, when I get it..... its just incomprehensiable that these vibration issues' are even present when the factory has at their disposal all of these high tech advance 3D motion sensors, sound sensors, vibration sensors and all the other gadgets to analyze these specific reviberation issues before they become production issues...but I guess this one fell through the cracks at certain rpm's.....

Vibration can come from any high speed rotation of a component such as tire, wheel, disc, drum, shaft, flywheel/Torque converter, harmonic balance, or pulley.
But the buzz noise i'm thinking steering column/dash or fastener/bushing or lack there of.
That said, have you tried adjusting to a different position? Up/down in/out and driving it?
It doesn't sound fatal, but I'm not the one with the issue and I'd be all up & under it if it was me.
    Be safe, best of luck.

My 07 two wheel drive with auto has had annoying vibration from 55 mph to 70 mph since new , it now has 115 k on it and at 100k the driveshaft u joints were replaced due to excessive rust {the newer ones have grease fittings} I was hoping the new joints would correct the rumble like vibration but no such luck. I asked the serv. manager about it while they had it in for the new frame replacement and he said that they all do it. this is why my next compact truck will be the new Chevy Colorado. BTY, my last compact truck was a 1990 mitsu. mighty max v6 with 5 speed and 4 wheel dr. and that truck always drove smooth at any speed...wish I still had it.

Really, this came down to the use of cheap rubber motor mounts. Nothing that can't be fixed.

    that's what I am thinking...new engine/tranny mounts/isolators that will fit
in the existing locations but damped/tuned correctly

How hard is it to replace motor mounts. Are we talking disconnection of tranny from engine and partial disassembly of engine? Never looked into swapping motor mounts but I assume this is a labor intensive task. Am I wrong?

It is not difficult for an experienced tech. One told me the other night it takes him 15 minutes to swap each rear motor mount [30 minutes for 2]. The dealer gets an hour per mount. You can utube and see how to do it. I would let Toyota do it so they don't void your warranty. Give me a day and I will have more information.

I'm with you man, I'm not touching it, thing is way too new. For an issue like this they need to
perform the work, that way it's tracked and covered and it won't be turned around into something
one of use did "outside" of their specs.

Patrick, if the new mounts wind up solving this problem, I’m also interested from you or others on how to ask a dealer to perform this work or whether they’d even do it? I wouldn’t be comfortable doing this myself and would want an experienced dealer technician to perform it. But I’m not sure whether engine mounts would be something a Toyota dealer would even be willing to touch given that seems to be replacing a key component of Toyota’s product design—even if I offered to pay for the parts and labor. It’s not akin to a lift or add on. @ToyFXR88 maybe you can offer guidance on whether a dealership would even consider this and, if so, the best way to ask. I’m jumping a little ahead here, but I am curious now.

I know there’s the principle of whether to pay, shouldn’t Toyota be doing this, why is it taking so long, etc.; but, frankly, I’m past all that. I simply want to do whatever it takes to solve the problem so I can keep the truck, which I love sans this problem, and use this forum for constructive advice, directions, solutions, or news. If nothing concrete flushes out by fall, then at least I’ll be comfortable knowing I gave it a patient wait before deciding to trade.

no one would go tossing in mounts to chase a vibe unless toyota engineering decides that is how to fix it.

then it's free, [whatever fixes it, be it mounts or other 'something(s)'] if under a TSB

Is everybody sold on the idea that the rear mounts are the culprit in Buzzgate? If so, one would have to assume that all V6 Tacoma's have the same resonance at the subject rpm's and the only trucks with bad motor mounts exhibit the buzz as described.
My truck had a minor buzz that improved by using 93 octane fuel (no idea why or how) and I think that the buzz may be caused by something amiss in the valve train or engine management component(s) instead of issues with motor mounts.
You may get some relief with better motor mounts, but there may still be an underlying issue with the engine that should be addressed.
Toyota has had issues in the past with valve train problems causing vibrations on other vehicles and I have never heard of a motor mount that behaves differently in cold weather versus warm or fails within a few hundred miles from new. Also, if the motor mount design itself was bad and that caused the buzz, would it not be evident on all V6 trucks?

If you bring money, most dealerships would do just about anything legal. They may question you at first, or perhaps tell you its unnecessary, but if you insist, they'll accept your money lol. BUT....

Lets just say the engine mounts truly are the problem....

You order some Toyota engine mounts and have them installed.

The problem could still persist because they haven't revised the part yet.

Also, labor jobs are quoted inn tenth's of an hour, so for the 2015 with the 1GR motor, each side mount should be 0.7 hours, and a rear mount should be 0.9, so if you have them all done, its probably a 2-3 hour job based on how the tech wants to quote it. By me, average dealer labor rate is around $118 per hour, so labor alone will be $236-354 plus tax and parts.

If the Toyota Enginneers found out that these "engine mounts" are truly the source of these vibration issues after I purchased this 40K truck, I would expect Toyota to fit the bill for these repaires..not me as the new owner of a giant 4:cheers: wheel vibrator....

    Buzzgate

Yeah, a cushy engine mount could mask the issue, but since apparently the majority of the trucks is free from the issue, it appears to be with the engine.

It's pretty clear the issue varies in its intensity. I wonder if the fewer reported cases with manual transmission is just that there are more autos around, or perhaps the flywheel, having extra damping mass is better at masking the issue, and only extreme cases of whatever it is will show through.

Could be the inconsistent quality of the motor mounts, if they are actually the issue. Some damper better than others.

Interesting theory. There are definitely some different components. As I have said before mine vibrates but is tolerable. I notice it most in 5th while trying to pull a grade in the rpm range. I have only noticed the dash rattling while towing a trailer up a grade in the affected rpm range. Never unloaded.
