I noticed that when I put my 2015 dcsb in 4wd while I'm at a dead stop does not engage until I drive about 10 feet. Does any one else have this problem?

Try turning the wheels side to side a little bit while you start rolling forward.

Thanks for the info. I knew I could put it in high up to 62. One day I wasn't paying attention and went to turn on the AC and turned the 4wd switch instead. It went in no problem but it scared me. I will try what y'all told me. Thanks

It likes to have the wheels rolling along on a surface. If it doesn't engage for me at low speed if I'm on a hill I'll go to neutral and let the truck roll it'll engage then.

Almost always I'm moving forwards as I engage 4H. Pretty sure it says on the visor card the wheels must be rolling along a surface for it to engage into 4H.

what problem ? there is no problem

at a dead stop it won't engage unless synchronized, which is like winning the lotto

it is normal and expected to need to roll forward or back a bit

it is RARE and shit luck if it engages at a dead stop

[you might be able to dingle with it by d-n-r at a dead stop and it may click in]

You should be moving to engage 4HI, at least until you put substantial mileage on the Tacoma and gear clearance gets bigger.
Plus it's one of those things that you need to use it often to go in and out smooth.

Consider yourself fortunate. I've driven a couple of hundred feet, accelerating, decelerating, before I could get it to engage.

If I haven't used my 4wd in a while, it will take a while to engage it. When I get to a place that I can use it, I will engage and disengage is several times and then it goes in almost immediately.

It's one of those items that it gets better with usage. Toyota transfer case is pretty sturdy, and rarely brakes inside. So as long as you don't do something retarded like that guy
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/broken-taco.422272/
Just keep using its going to get better.
