I went with a 4'. I still have to take it off to get in the garage. And remember it's on there when I'm out of town and try to go through parking garages. They're top-loaded, so there's a bit less of an issue with height over the cab. Keep in mind they're heavy and not as flexible as whip. A 5' is just going to be that much more flailing around up there and may be more prone to breakage. I've hit my 4' on trees a few times but rarely does it smack the cab. I'm pretty sure a 5' would do that regularly.

Bolt in the stud when not in use. Now why the hell didn't I think of that. I've had to clean that thing out so many times, and while not terrible it is of course also corroding.

Yeah at my work I park next to a dirt road where trucks constantly drive on so my truck gets constant dust. So I figure I put a stainless bolt in there to try and keep it as clean as I can. The stainless helps too. No Corrosion build up.

That has been happening a lot recently at my job, and we do a lot of environmental work for oil and gas work so the company out look isn't great with the price of crude oil.

Ace hardware sells those rubber caps like over the tip of your antenna. Put that over the base. Keeps it clean and does not corrode.

That's actually exactly what I bought to cover mine up when not in use. Rubber foot from stools, cane, whatever. :)

Any trail runs or mod parties happening the weekend of April 8th? I'll be up at Insane getting a proper CMC done. Is Estes Park or RMNP worth checking out at this time of year?
