What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Your going to be adding skids under that? I would probably beef it a bit and add weld washers around the bolt heads so they don't get gouged. You could keep the strength and save weight. I may have gone a bit to beef with mine as it weighs 120#.

 

Skids will be after I finish the suspension. Going to tie them into the frame and mount them thay way. That's just to support the transfer case and transmission. Replaces the stock cross member.

 

Haha thanks! Yeah the welds aren't the greatest. But I'm still learning. They are more than strong enough though.

 

And no need to add any more beef to the cross member in my opinion. Transfer case and crawl box are on trail gears bomb proof rubber based mounts and all 4 corners are on bushing. The mounts are welded to a plate and then welded to the frame for Reinforcement.

 

how come you didn't opt to clock the tcase?

 

Is anyone manufacturing light bars with the newer 10W LEDs?

 

there are tons of 10w led chip bars.

I'm seeing some in Australia and China though. Maybe Oledone or eBay special.

Doesn't look like there's much room to clock it and he's already into that exhaust being passenger drop. I didn't opt to clock mine because it really wouldn't have gained much, it's already above the frame and the mounts on the reduction box are massive, my frame height is right at 26" but belly pan is at about 20" that was after a ton of work to get the trail gear belly pan up about 2"

Cool. I didn't even notice. They don't advertise it. I guess the Cree XM-L2 LEDs are the giveaway.

Edit: Also it seems like a bit of a tradeoff since they use half as many 10w LEDs in the same space as the 5W bars. I guess the heat output or projector size must control somehow.

 

Yea you have to look at the number of LEDs/output.

There is a guy local to me that is popular with UTVs that has 2x2 pods with the 10w LEDs for $70/ea, no bars with the 10w yet though.

 

Iggy is doing another GB right now and one of the lights being offered is 40 watt pods. More than $70 tho

This is the bar i want though. The only LED bar that comes close my LF240s in terms of distance and has the paper work to back it up. But fuck, expensive..

There are lots of dual row 7w LED bars now though too. you can get a 560w 42'' curved bar off ebay..

That's a nice form factor for the light bar. I can't do 30" though in the grill. I'm thinking a double OnX 8" or the OnX 20" with the BAMF bracket.

I'm comparing the specs and the 30" OnX is 19,350 Lumens for $1100. The Triple-R is only 16,000 lumens at around $1200. Do you like the beam pattern better for that one?
