What's up guys? I'm a Texan that's been living in Germany for a little over two years. I'm thinking about moving to Nashville for school. What's the offroading/outdoor life out there like? I have a kayak back home and looking to buy a roof top tent when I move back and I want to ensure that it's money well spent. If you're originally from another state, what's the pros/cons? Thanks!

I would love to see my 07 out and about or online. Just for fun I guess.

Welcome from Knoxville. A lot of the TN guys are at the annual TN meet up at Land Beyond Lakes. Closer to Nashville than Knoxville for sure. I'm sure some of those guys can answer your local question, but it might be a couple of days.

Welcome. I moved here from Arizona for school. I'm an undergraduate student in Jackson which is about 2 hours from Nashville on I40 (closer to Memphis). There's not much action for off-roading near me but there are normally a few meets a year (spring, summer, fall) at land between the lakes which is like an hour and a half from me/about the same from Nashville. That's where nearly everyone that is normally in this thread is right now. I'm headed there tomorrow morning. Tons of good trails to ride there. I think there are a few off road parks near Nashville or within a couple hours of Nashville that provide some opportunities as well. As far as outdoor life in general, the farther toward East Tennessee you go the better. Middle Tennessee (where Nashville is) provides a decent bit of hiking and waterfalls and what not but farther east you get into the smokies which have by far the best trails and outdoor activities.

2002 F-150 dad had since I was 8 and I got it when I turned 17 and it had 317,000 miles on it when I traded it and I'm talking to the guy and he bought it for his son to drive and it still is running great

If you don't mind a few hours of travel time it is very well centrally located. Land between the lakes is a national park that allows primitive camping and has a Offroad Park as well. Wheelers Offroad Park is about 45 minutes south of Nashville and I hear it's a good day trip. Wind rock is outside Knoxville and probably a 2 hour trip and I believe they have 70000 acres or something Insane like that, but it is expensive. Bowling Green ky has a pretty hardcore Offroad Park that's 200 acres. Don't really suggest going unless you don't mind damage. Half way to Chattanooga offers a park called aop that is pretty good and the owner is really cool. There are some more parks like golden mountain and Tracy city but I've yet to travel to them. Chattanooga has some pretty cool scenery and some really cool adventure stuff to do. Gatlinburg has some great things to do as a weekend get away. There is plenty of stuff that I'm sure I'm missing as well.

awesome! I'm digging all the info. All the lakes are sounding great. I've been away for my truck for two years now. So I plan to do alot of camping/offroading out of it when I get back. Tennessee is sounding better as the info flows in. Thanks!

I'm about 10 miles north of Pickett State Park, just across the state line, and we have only had some light rain sprinkles. Weather keeps calling for more rain, but nothing more yet...

Yeah, nothing was sticking but I had to turn north to finish my run and I hit a wall of wind and snow.

I got some slush close to McMinnville, my sister was getting hail in my town 30 mins before we met her at her house where it was sunny then 10 mins later I left in a flurry of huge snowflakes. I'm also sun burned from this weekend. Definitely a Tennessee weekend of weather

We had practically a white out on the way home from Nashville last night and a shit ton of wrecks to navigate through. A normal 2 hour drive took much much longer. We were making great time all the way until cookeville.

I definitely can't wait until this weekend hopefully get sunburnt at least once so I can get it over with.

Less than a week after buying a welder and I'm already sketching bumpers. I see where this is going.
