Why are you guys doing 885s with 5100s over the 6112? The spring comes with the struts.

If it were me, I'd go ahead and do the new UCA's if for nothing more than a little more durability and easier alignment. with the 885's, you're going to be stretching the limits of your stock UCA's and while they will technically work, you do use your truck as a truck, and therefore will find their limitations sooner rather than later.

Hey Jerry, would you recommend the 885s or 887s? I have the 5100s up front now set at .85 and id do a progressive aal in the rear. I do want to add an aluminum front bumper eventually. Also what would you recommend for the rear shocks and any thoughts on what u can? Thanks for the helderly you know what you're talking about on this stuff.
Edit: I'll be wearing out my current tires before I go to 285s.

I just bought a '16 Sport and am looking to lift it a bit. All the information in this thread is probably great, i just don't understand alot of it. I'm an amateur! Can someone point me in the direction of who/what/how to ask the pros in the shops about lifting my truck a few inches for looks more than functionality. I'm off road some for camping and getting to certain places, and in the snow quite a bit. I just want the looks without losing the current feel. I also want a lift that wouldn't alter the way it drives nor interferes with any other components down the road. Can anyone shoot shoot me in the right direction?? I'm in the mountains of Colorado if that helps

Yeah I'm happy with my tires and I don't feel like dropping a whole lot of $$$ for 33s right now. How does the ride compare between the 885s and 887s? And I think Relentless aluminum bumper is right around 70lbs and then a winch eventually down the road. I'd prefer to not go to the 886s since I hear the ride is extremely stiff. So maybe the 887s will be better in the long run since I don't really need a bad ass king, Fox or icon set-up for hauling ass through the desert. If I'm not going to a larger tire do I need to go with aftermarket UCA's right now or can I hold off until I go with 285s?

When reading about the 5100s, it gave specs. Is there a different 5100 for each make/model of truck?

Give Toytec a call. There techs will walk you through the best lift for your needs. Although I will caution - a lift of any sort will cause quicker wear and tear on other parts of the truck. It's the slippery slope of the modding your truck. :)

You know I asked this question when researching new rear shocks because I liked how my current billies performed for the most part but the valving needed to be changed a bit. I was told that internal specs are something that shock companies typically do NOT release so as to keep other companies from copying a successful set up.
When I ordered my ICON'S for the rear, they had me give measurements, the weight I will be carrying empty and loaded, and what type of adventuring I do. Then they built them but would NOT give me a spec sheet with my order.

The magic is in the oil. :D

with the stock OR wheels you might need to run spacers with 285's or 295's to get the tire away from the UCA. I have 17x9 fuel hostage wheels with a 4.5bs and -12 offset. SPC LR UCA's which can push the tire forward slightly and get me away from the CM. I still did the CMC and trimmed a bunch of the lower fender plastic which looks stock, the mud flaps were deleted as well. I didn't have to beat back the pinch weld but I'm also in a 2nd gen, don't know how much different the fender wells are in the 3rd gen but I'm assuming you will have to do the CMC and trim some plastic.

Would be super cool if you gave a follow up after a off-road trip,a couple tanks of gas, ect. Great look, and nice there is no rub with a "stuffed" look. Like it Alot! Future plans?? Following for certain:burnrubber:

Agreed. GREAT looking truck and id like to know more about the rubbing while off-road. As I mentioned in the other thread, I want to fit the biggest tire I can without a full fledged lift.

Has anyone kept the Tacoma factory warranty or dealership warranty after lifting their 16', what is your lift with tires? Dealer told me to wait for procomp if I want to keep it.

Didn't SEMA fight that battle about warranties and aftermarket suspensions and win? Thought I read about that a few years ago. Anyway, my dealer said "Go with a name brand and reputable suspension company, don't go over 3 inches, and your warranty won't be void". Maybe shoulda got it in writing.
