hi, i just got my yota and looking to wrap it with procomp 51 series 16x8 steel rims and some 33" tire (305-70-R16). I only got 2" spacers (bodylift i think) and the rest of the truck is fully stock (2009 tacoma TRD sport crew cab with 6ft bed) now running with 16x7 et10 265-70-R16 4runner steelies as winter tire. What is the bigger size of tire i can go and do thoses procomp wheel fits the truck ? I've read peoples saying that 4,25 was not enough backspacing to clear the calipers and some other that had no issues with it so i don't know what to do....

    Thanks !

Seems like the 305s rub every where on 2nd gen, do i should go with 285-70r16 instead ?! Event if the procomp rim is way more offset that the oem one (-6 offset instead of 10) and make the tire poke a inch more ?! Anyone rolling a 16x8 rim around 0 offset and a 33" tire on 2nd gen ?!
    Dunno what to do .....:help:

    Thanks

Ok i've been reading treads all day and it seems that the most popular size is the 33" 285/75r16. I don't want to trim my truck a lot so should it be better considering 31x12.5 or 32x11.5 on aftermarket 16x8 rims ? Fitting wheels on this truck is a lot more complicated then expected ...

I'll let you know in a couple days. I bought 17x9's, 4.25 bs, -6 offset, 265/70/17's are too narrow. I have 3" lift so going with 285/70/17's . Never mind that the lug nuts that came with the wheels stripped out...

Whatever i'll do you think i'll need to do a zipcut job ? There must be a setup that looks good not involving chopping around the truck

Ok i've done my homework with tire and now know where im going, lets talk rims. Do people are running procomp steelies 16x8 4.25 bs on trd 2nd gen ? Is it possible to fit whitout grinding calipers ? I've read that some 16s fits well and some other don't....

3" OME 884 coils & shocks front & rear, aal. 265/70/17's not wide enough for 9" wheels. Alignment done, hoping to 285/70/17's in a couple days...

today the 285/70/17's went on & I love them. everybody says it looks great. the inner lower flares need to be trimmed. I don't know why but I cant get pictures to upload today. maybe have to do it from my phone. the tires stick out past the flares a little,
rims are 17 x 9, 4.75 bs, -6mm offset, Toyo Open Country H/T, I wanted all season tires.

Looks badass men ! Just order some 265/75r16 adventuro mud and procomp 16x8 -6 offset due to all my readings that 285s was a PITA to fit and dont want to put the grinder on my cab mount... But men your truck has a killer look !

I'm not cutting any metal. Just the inside bottom of the flare. When I got home from work today I'll do it & take pics

Update... After a couple days of driving I'm going to have to cut the cab mounts. Showed it to my friend's brother in law last night. He's going to cut & weld it back braced differently. It's all going to work out. I'm @ $3500 out of pocket so just going to finish it and all will be fine. And the rear springs were just installed on Toyota's dime

Knew there was some cutting involved more than the simple plastic trimming, thanks on the comments ! Look really mean tho

Uptade, just received rims and tires today and procomp 51 series rims 16x8 wont fit trd 2nd gen because of the brake calipers.... Looking for some wheel spacer now, hope it wont cause any rubbing because of the poke. Kinda pissed off
