I need to renew mine, too. Expires in August, I think. Maine recently became a constitutional carry state, but the permit gets you some extra benefits. Reciprocity, like you mentioned, but it also means that you don't have to notify law enforcement immediately during a traffic stop, can carry it in the state and national parks in-state, and it lets you keep it in your vehicle on premises at work, even if the company has a 'no handguns' policy (which mine does, being based on Long Island)

That should be double deep and staggered 1/2 course to ensure no pass throughs between the ties...IMHO

I'd second that. Those ties have got some pretty big gaps.

Man, y'all are lucky... I've been trying to get my carry permit since January! I got a letter shortly after I applied wanting a court disposition from a non-violent misdemeanor from college 14 years ago!

Contacted the city clerk from my college town and eventually found someone that could help. They sent me the paperwork and I dropped it off at the probate court.

Week later I get a letter that said thanks, but the paperwork needed to be certified. I call the clerk again and they stamp and notarize the disposition and mail it back to me.

I turned everything in and just received another letter stating thanks but the courtroom notes are illegible and can't be used! WTF?!?!?

I called the clerk again and she was very helpful and a little annoyed with the probate court where I applied for my carry permit. She asked for their number so that she could figure out exactly what they wanted.

She just called me back, saying everything should be in order and will be going out in the mail today... And then basically called the folks at my local probate court a bunch of idiots haha!

Hopefully I will be good to go... A lot of running around for a non-violent misdemeanor from nearly 15 years ago!

When I first applied for my permit it took the state police nearly 4 months to get back to me, even though they're supposed to have it back within 6 weeks. The system is just so underfunded and understaffed that they've got a constant backlog. Even though the permit doesn't expire until August, I'm going to mail my paperwork in well before then to make sure there's no lapse in coverage.

My CC permit took less than a week to receive when I applied earlier this year lol, very surprised...

I agree, however this guy gets a pass because of where he lives, slight downhill, lots of woods, and nobody that direction for about 2 miles.

    I have a full size .45 but I don't carry it. It's a range gun for me.
