Changed mine today for the first time at 1259 miles. Noticed very little if any metal sparkles.
I added the five quarts and let it run for a bit, turned it off, and let it sit for a while and the oil was at or below the lower mark. So I added a 6th quart and it was just a little below the top Mark. So 6.2 is just about dead on in my experience.

So in my experience the first oil change is the "break in oil" and should be changed after the first 1000ish miles but toyota is telling me 5000 before the first change. Should i believe them or go with my old car, hot rod building, new engine beliefs?

Same as the 2015. That's what a lot of us used. My trucks sits perfectly level and the ride quality is awesome.

I wonder if the truck is more sensitive to inclines than other vehicles when checking the level. My driveway is close to level but not perfect so maybe that's what it is. I'll check it in the garage today.

No comparison for me, I'm a Michelin person. Better ride, security, and peace of mind.

The hardware store sells bolts that will go right in the place of the star screws. I put those on mine when I installed the rail. Found it to be much more reliable than the star screw.

Just checked before going to work. My garage is completely level and the truck was shut off for about 8 hours. My 5 quart fill with the short D1 filter brought it to about 2/3 of the way to the full dot. This was an almost level drain for about 10 mins so I assume how much you need to put back in just depends on how long you let it drain and whether the truck is level.

Also, my dash cam and related accessories showed up last night so I'll probably be installing it this evening or tomorrow.

Finally got my truck last week and wasted no time in spending a bunch of money.

    The night I got her:

What happened over the past week:
    20160311_175020.jpg 20160311_175028.jpg 20160311_175030.jpg

So far its Fuel Hostage wheels with 265/70/17 KO2's (minor rubbing in reverse), OEM mudguards, Predator steps, OPT7 LED low beams, TRD air filter, 20% tint on front 2 windows (matches perfectly from the outside), and custom startup and screen off images.

I also have the LED interior kit sitting on my desk at home, LED reverse lights on order, and thinking of doing the ToyTec lift and DBCustomz Grille, but I'm running out of money.:notsure:

Really want some steps but $550 for those is a bit steep

I think if you read the manual, Toyota is telling you 10,000 miles before the first change unless you are driving in "extreme" conditions. That OW20 can easily go that far.

No rub at full lock and going over things? Curious to know what the offset/backspace of the wheels? I want to put the biggest tires on without a full-fledged lift.
