Just drove my wives tacoma with boat trailer hooked to it (roughly 4000lbs loaded).Pulled fine, stops fine but why it doesn't have headlights that are adjustable when not level I don't understand. My Honda Goldwing has headlights that you can adjust with a dial for different loads.Other then that it's awesome..

Head lamp elevation adjustment was pretty common in the EU and I've often wondered why it's not more common in the states.

    Check out these bad boys.

"BMW Laserlight is a highly efficient lighting technology with a high-beam range double that of headlights containing conventional technology.

The BMW i8 is also the world’s first series production vehicle in which BMW Laserlight technology is offered, a pioneering high-beam function that heralds a new era in the development of innovative BMW lighting technology."

That is so many words to tell me F'ing nothing except that they employ too many marketers.

So if I understand your headlights are shooting higher than normal while you have the trailer loaded and it is hard to see the road at night? NO lack of adjustment? Close if I am guessing right, you are probably using a level or 1" drop receiver, try a 2-3" drop receiver, this will not pull the front end so high while towing keeping your headlights on the road...correct me if I am off base...

Not sure what the Goldwing has to do with this, maybe you can elaborate on really what your talking about so other TW folks can make you or break you.

I saw an i8 on the street the other day, really wanted to get a pic but I was at a stop light. This was daytime so I didn't get to see its HLs on, so you're saying this one would've had anything but laser lights?

Unless US regs have changed those lamps and the brightness are NOT legal in the US and the car (like many) have different lighting for the US market.

On the Goldwing and other other vehicles such as the Tundra. You have a dial that you can use to adjust the headlights. So when you have a trailer or a load in the back you aren't shining your lights too high.

Well there we go, since we are talking Tacoma, your gonna have to get some better leaf springs for the rough adjustment for managing your 4k load, but you can do some fine tuning with the drop of your tongue whe it comes to headlight sighting. Hope that helps a tad, on a side not I towed a 4k dry 23' Chris Craft Deck boat roughly 250 miles in a half ton 5.7l Chevy Z71.....ate my tranny for lunch, watch your loads on the tacoma and your geariing, never go OD or MT-6, I would use sport stick under 65 MPH 4-5th gear, avoid the gear hunt scenario in auto or Cruise control or you may be in for a new tranny yourself.

There must be some air bags somewhere that would fit. These work really well and after a couple of tests of different air pressures, a person should be able to level your truck out with the given tongue weight. The mention of a different drop on the receiver makes no difference on tongue weight. Only purpose for different drop values is to level the trailer while pulling. Fortunately, I have my trusty old '98 Dodge diesel for my towing needs, since the Taco can't tow a flatbed full of hay or wood nor would it do well pulling a 3 horse trailer.

FYI. Looking on the internet, I found a couple of different companies that offer air bags. Hellwig has them for the 2016 Tacoma, I think they were around $250. Looks to be an easy installation between your leaf springs and the frame. They add up to 5000 lbs load capacity, which is overkill, but a shot of air to the right pressure will level your rig. Going to get a set on order as I plan to tow my boat with the Taco. Normal tongue weight should be no more than a few hundred pounds. I had to move my boat on the trailer some when I bought it, dealer had the tongue weight too light and towing was horrible.
