((I'm doing this for him because he is willing to let it go and it unacceptable)))Recently my boyfriend added a 6 inch fabtech lift to his 03 tacoma, after taking his 3 inch rough country off. A wheel wheel parts store near me put the lift on for him a couple of weeks ago and the day he picked it up he realized something wasn't right with the breaks. It was not a grinding noise just a electrical low pitched noise when hitting the brakes if that makes any sense. He drove it home anyways and checked and made sure there were no air bubbles in the brake lines but as expected their wasn't. His model does have the ABS so he thought it was relevant to that. We recently took the truck back to the 4 wheel parts place and they checked the sensor and unplugged the battery and plugged it back in and they can't seem to figure it out. There were NO problems before the lift was put on. Any suggestions?

My money it is the ABS motor that you are hearing. They may have removed altered the Load Sensing Proportioning Valve. I am not saying that it is the problem, but it is certainly something to look at. http://www.off-road.com/trucks-4x4/project589.html

If youre referring to the LSPV they wouldnt have touched it. They woulda just put an extension on the axle to raise the arm.

Not sure bud. I just know the shop had no business messin around with that load valve in the rear. There is an arm coming from that apparatus that connects to the axle. At the connection youll see where they put an extension there to compensate for the lift. Sorry im not more help. I have a hunch its something to do with the fronts if i had to guess. Every single piece of the hub/spindle area is completely dismantled for the install of that lift...

I think it is time for a boy friend upgrade myself!!

Hard to say just what might have been done.

Might be unrelated to what was done just pure chance but most likely the shop did something but has no clue.

Most times if you have ABS Fault it will trip the ABS light on some of the newer ones it trips the MIL

Are either of these lights on??

Part of the problem is Fab-Tech... should've kept the Rough Country.

Like was stated earlier, the ABS module makes a small whine/ hum sound upon initial start up and take off, at least mine did before I killed that system. If that noise persists, it may be the module. If so, I'd take it back to 4WP and let them diagnose the issue but you need to prove it 1st.
Go to Auto Zone, borrow the OBDII reader, see if it pops a code.

    Good luck.

Maybe they didn't put the extension on the LSPV arm? Just a shot in the dark...

The problem is fixed! There was grease on the wheel speed sensor that I guess 4WP didn't check. Thanks for all of the help everyone!
