Running the temp sensor wire and noticed this. It looks almost identical to what I got from Bob. Looks like my truck has a temp sensor in place? Before I move or replace this with the one I got from Bob I wanted to make sure. I can't fit the temp sensor I got if this one stays. Any help is appreciated.

Leave it alone. I think that is a sensor for the factory air conditioner unit. Maybe someone else on here can confirm.

In doing my research I've not come across any posts saying that it is OK to use the sensor that is already there. As previous poster said- that sensor is for something else already in use.

I have a 2014 taco that IS prewired for auto dim mirror- but everyone that has this existing wiring set-up is also having to install the additional sensor like you got from Bob.

Fairly certain you need to install a second sensor.

So what is that sensor for then? I have a 2014 that came with auto dim mirrors but no temp!

It must be for engine regulation or something? Also heard that it was for AC as mentioned above. I really don't know. But with the way they make engines now days, I would almost expect there to be a temp sensor for something somewhere.

My '14 said "auto dim rear view mirror" on the order sheet when I ordered the truck. Still have the sheet. The trucks then showed up on the lots without one. Must have been a pretty late decision to pull them for some reason. But some models did come with them (TRD? Pros?).

2014 Taco here, Gentex mirror from Bob installed. To my knowledge 2013 was the last year for the auto dim/temp readout. I *think* the Limited might still have gotten them, but it was autodim with no external temp readout.

This existing sensor is for the computer and can't be tied into for a mirror. Don't mess with it, just use your own as you already did. :)

I actually moved it up a couple holes or about 2 inches so I could fit the sensor for the mirror beneath it. It seemed the only way to install the mirror temp sensor with the wires facing down as per Bob's instructions. The sensor for the computer felt a tad loose in the top hole so I strapped it with a zip tie. Not going anywhere.
