You guys would get really mad over here plenty of parents buy their kids brand new trucks while there in high school it's crazy not only trucks but BMW's and all sorts or fancy vehicle. My friend's neighbor's daughter got a brand new Lexus 250 for Christmas and its her senior year of high school. (Already has a dented bumper)

But you can't take the world for granted if you have to work for anything!

At worst, after getting in too deep with a brand new truck I should have perfect advice come from an internet forum! *stomps feet*

hehehehe. Now I'm just being a b*stard playing both sides. Someone needs more beer.

No way. He's watching the tide roll in, from the tailgate of a 2016 tacoma, atop a volcano at the end of a lush and green trail, with 1 blonde and 1 brunette on either side, big bag o weed and 30rack of beer just behind them all with the sun setting.

But in his mind, he's worried about bad MPG's.

They don´t show used values for 2016 Tacoma yet. I tried that and was going to give him the values, but no luck.

Since OP won´t tell us, in another thread he is shown saying he is getting 18 MPG. May as well keep the truck, not going to get enough difference in MPG to make it worthwhile.

It was in a thread by the infamous oneshort, it was about 4cyl mpg. He also said he is light on the pedal. He should be getting at least 21, I don't believe its a truck issue, I also don't believe a different car will help either.

Just to put the numbers up:

$40week on gas, $3.50/gallon on the islands, is 11.5 gallons per week. at 18mpg its 205 miles/wk.

Theres nothing odd there. Maybe he should get more with a 4cyl but.... I wouldnt have at his age.

*If you work in 21mpg, he spends $34/wk on gas. If he had a pos sedan or coupe getting 35, he spends about $21/week. The $20week savings on gas will never, ever, help offset the loss he walks away from. Also consider the value a 2016 tacoma should hold is very very good, but right now a dealer or private sale will hit him for all the depreciation they possibly can. All IMHO of course.

@imageomega, I never thought it was odd, I just don't believe the hit he takes from trade in and more credit hits will be justified by the mpg savings from a car. Maybe a little lighter foot will be the best choice here.

I'm with you. It sounds like the truck was a bad idea in the first place, but theres not an easy (cheaper) out.

Are there many places to use 4wd on the islands? I have to go to the mountains to use mine, everything is paved where I live. It's very disappointing.
