Looks good, nice crossmember. Its a tie between building that and my steering shaft on things I'm dreading the most to complete my SAS.

You will love the crawl box, hands down the best money i have ever spent on any wheeling mod on any vehicle i have owned. I was lol'ing at the part about crawling over the rocks at 10mph, that's about your max speed fully spooled out in 5th gear in double low!

Thanks man! Yeah took us 2 and half long days to get it done... Steering shaft shouldn't be to bad for me. I got all the parts from the 4runner I took the box from and ordered a u joint coupler from Speedway to attach to the steering wheel so will cut the parts I don't need and weld it all together.

It'll be more like 3mpH but I'm still stocked on it hahaha can't wait to use it!

Do you have the part number for that coupler to the steering wheel? I'm going to a ford box, but i have a 4runner shaft as well and i cant find a coupler for the shaft to steering column connection, i already have the one for the shaft to box.

Yeah. The part number is: 91032236-PLN

    Here's the linkhttp://www.speedwaymotors.com/Sweet-Mfg-Steering-U-Joint-3-4-36-Spline-to-3-4-Round-GM-Manual-Mustang-II,31386.html

That is supposed to be the same coupler trail gear sells. Just a little cheaper and maybe different brand. That goes from the steering wheel to the steering shaft. One side has the 36 splines for the steering wheel and the other side is smooth 3/4 opening. I'm going to weld the smooth end to a piece of 3/4 in tubing that will slide over my 4runner shaft with the crush point and weld those two together. The crush point will then be connected to the box with the coupler that came on it.

Not sure if that all makes sense haha

I got the coupler. It's just sitting in the mail box. Will let you know if it works tonight once I get the mail.

I also ordered their 10 in long u bolts. They showed up already and they are beefy and will definitely do the trick

I got the coupler last night. It does not work on the steering will shaft. Returning that one and going to order a different one today from a different company. The shaft is actually 17.5mm. Not 3/4. And It has 34 splines total. 2 of them are the flat smooth splines so if yiu cut them, it'd be 36 total

Not sure I follow you? The only part I have left of the stock steering is the shaft coming out of the steering wheel. I took off all the couplers and such.

Yes sir! 4 used ones and 1 new one. Had to get new wheels though. Old ones weren't wide enough. Used ones only had 500 miles on them though

What are the wheel specs if you don't mind me asking? I'm in the hunt for new wheels and can't decide on 16s or 17s yet. I'm too damn indecisive on the little things :bananadead:

It was a super impulse buy because I met a guy from craigslist at discount to get his 315s. (They where on his FJ, so he was selling me his 35s and buying 33s) When they dismounted mine and went to mount the 315s, they said the wheel is too narrow. (7" wide, needs to be 8-8.5")

Sooo after them showing me some, these are 8.5 inches wide, with a -6 offset. Essentially, these are the same as my old wheels with the new width being added to the outside. I got a good deal on them and the 5th new tire so was hard to say no. These cleared the calipers and highsteer arms and fit the hub on them. 16s are hard, discount only had this wheel and 2 other ones wide enought to fit a 315 tire.

I like these though, theyre a 16" rim so I get a little more side way and I think they look good. The fake beadlock is just plastic? bolts filling a hole though, cant add a piece sadly.

And if I had time to research wheels more, Id be in the same boat as you. Very indesive and always have buyers remorse on things like this. But this time I dont, Im very happy with them. Tires and wheels. I like the 16s though for more sidewall. Id search craigslist though and see if you can find a set of used tires then base your wheels off of that! Let someone else decide for you!

Yeah, the stockers won't hold up to 315s. I'm leaning towards 16x8s right now because of the extra sidewall when aired down. At first I wanted 17x9s, but am getting away from that more and more each day. What is the backspace on em?

Id have to look at the paper again. The offset is -6 though.
