Does anyone have wheel spacers on their '11 taco or 2nd Gen. Taco? Looking into some and just curious on others opinion, price and pictures. Thanks for any responses ahead of time.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
They will ruin your wheel bearings. They dramatically alter the force on those bearings to be irregularly placed along the inside of the bearings. These are roller bearings and will fail prematurely.

I'm running Spidertrax spacers, as are many others.

They have no more adverse affect than negatively-offset wheels, which is none.

They do have an adverse effect. So do offset wheels. Both are hard on your bearings. Do a simple "Google" search. This is well known. Toyota engineers have lab tested the correct offset to fit with their beirings. Get better looks sure, but realizethe cost of those mods.

It's simple physics...bigger spacer or more negative offset equals more torque being applied to the wheel bearing.

No one can ever provide test data to back that.

Ok so just because you personally haven't seen any data saying they're hard on bearings, that means you're going to automatically assume the opposite is true? Where is your test data? Are you going to buy the OP new bearings after assuring him they won't be harmed by spacers?

OK, fine I'll search the Internet for you. No worries... I know how to use Google.

Probab;y the best and most reliable source would be the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)

    http://www-esv.nhtsa.dot.gov/Proceedings/22/files/22ESV-000144.pdf

I concede this report is a bit technical and difficult for a lay person to read/interpret.

How about a nice Youtube video from a guy that tries to explain everything with out being a vehicle engineer? I liked it very much :)

Seems to me that this is going to become an Internet dick measuring competition.

OP, yes, installing wheel spacers or after market wheels with a different offset will pose the chance for accelerated wear on components. As will installing lifts, bigger tires, lights, stereo systems. They will all pose a chance for accelerated wear on associated components and/or systems.
With the above in mind, what are you trying to achieve? If your goal is appearance without buying new wheels, spacers work well. Spidertrax 1.25" spacers are used in the pictures I posted with before and after of my rear tire to fender.
If you decide on spacers, don't skimp and get ebay lug centric. They pose more chance of balance issues. Spidertrax generally run around a hundred per pair and are very easy to install (they even come with instructions but what guy uses those). There are they brands out there, but Spidertrax have been used by many without problems. Thy even come in black now, so you don't see them as easily.

I've read that report. And a guy that's not an engineer making a YouTube video? Come on. I'm still waiting for the lab test data that you say has been performed by Toyota.

Whoahhh. Now I never said that Toyota haf any lab trst data. they donot sell TRD spacers sowhy would they bother lab testing that??? Doesn't make sense. In fact you can infer by the very fact that they do not carry spacers as a reaonable assumption they would impact negatively their vehicle warranty.

You'l have to do your own "lab tests".
