Well, I can tell you that build prices, in my area, on new homes is $110-$135+ per square foot depending on finishes.

Think you better than we are but we have to build for some pretty heavy snow loads and we may have to insulate more etc

Yeah, home construction is probably pretty different. My house has spray foam insulation and it is fantastic, but pricey. I had it done because it makes the power bill very low, so you make up the money in the long run. My power bill is never over $200 a month and we keep our house at 70-72 degrees all year and have 3 AC units.

Your house is probably way bigger than mine and I live alone and heat with wood and my bill runs about 50 a month but I am not the norm so can't go by me. And what the heck is AC ??? LOLOL. I don't need it here even in the summer !

LOL...you will need it if you move here, but it's pretty standard on houses. Be hard to live here in the summer without AC.
And, I promise you $200 a month is really cheap with 3 central AC units.

That spray foam is the way to go, it pays for itself like you said. Do you guys go with radiant head down there ? Dad had it here and loved getting out of bed to warm floors.

I don't really know what radiant heat is. We have heat pumps(AC and heat in one) down here.

Dad had a big house and the last winter he was alive was 2012 and heating oil was high then but one six week period was 785.00 and his house was only 10 years old or so. But he even kept his garage at 70 degrees.

I don't know a single person down here that buys heating oil. I don't even think they sell it here.

In the floors, circulating pump keeps it flowing threw the tubes and oil fired burner heats it.

Ah, I've seen heated floors that were electric, but we don't get cold enough to need it.

For his garage or cellar floor it is laid out in a grid style them concrete poored over it, the rest it runs between the floor joists. Turn up thermostat and burner heats up the chemical they use in it and circ pump keeps it flowing through. He had 5 different zones.

Sounds comfy, but I have never felt that my floors were too cold.
Hell, I lived in a house with an elevator for 2 years and even it didn't have heated floors. :D

Yeah, that house had an actual elevator that would fit 6 people. I thought it was stupid, but my kids had fun riding it. My wife and I only used it to send laundry down to the first floor.
