Ok so I have a 6" lift on my truck and the second from the bottom is missing half the spring. Brought it to toyota and they said its not covered cause the broken spring is from the lift does that mean they won't replace it. How do i know if it really is part of the lift.

There was a posting from someone who works at Toyota, he said if you have had your frame replaced, then you have the newest leaf springs. One other way to tell, is if you look at the shackles, the newer leaf springs will have more shackles.

Fiy if you go to a dealer and they don't have springs call around. The first place I went said it would take 6 to 8 weeks for them to order the springs, called around and another place had them so I got my new ones Saturday.

Did you ever receive a letter from Toyota, tell you that a remedy is available? I live in Northeastern Mass and haven't gotten my letter, but went on Toyotaowners.com, entered my vin and says a remedy is available.

I just got my letter today, AFTER my spring replacement. I did the same as you, went on Toyota owners and saw the remedy notice. No need for the letter, just call around until you find a dealer with the springs in stock. Just be sure to ask them if they'll keep the springs for you, the first dealer I called made an appt and checked my truck but then to,d me they'd need to order the springs because all the ones they had were reserved.

I received my letter and sent back the info for reimbursement consideration. Sent in the requested paperwork (proof of ownership, proof of purchase (I replaced w/ Dakar), and proof of payment (cc receipt)). I attached a memo to the package and mailed it in. No clue if I'll see any money from them, but it was worth the cost of a stamp and the 20 minutes it took to gather all the paperwork. I'll let you guys know what my outcome is.

Same here. I replaced mine one year ago this week with a 4 leaf pack from wheelers. About $340 out of pocket for me.
I read somewhere here that it costs toyota about $1300 at the dealerships. It looks like I saved toyota alot of money doing the change myself. Wouldn't be nice if they paid labor ? yeah right.

Ha! I didn't even ask for labor reimbursement. Just the cost of the leaf springs being reimbursed would feel like I'm hitting the lottery! Plus, I did the install myself and since I charge like $800/hr for labor, I doubt they'd like my invoice ;)

I also Received an email yesterday stating they're in receipt of my letter and that it can now take up to 45 days for an answer. They provided a phone number and hours to contact them if I don't hear anything in 6-8 weeks and want to reach out.

I took my truck in to a local garage for a safety inspection (Nova Scotia) and I have a broken leaf spring on the gas tank side. So I couldn't get the safety inspection finished which runs out the end of March. I called the dealer when I got home, told them I have a broken spring and wanted to know what was going on with the recall. He tells me it hasn't been classed as a recall in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick yet. I told him it was classed as a recall everywhere else. He is going to take pictures and send them off to Toyota and see if they will speed up the recall for this whatever that means. I guess that is why I never ever received my letter about the recall.

So I had the pictures taken and now I wait for an okay from Toyota US because the truck is a US truck. Question to anyone who has had theirs replaced.... did they do both sides or just the gas tank side? Seems to me if you put a new better spring on one side, the truck should lean to the other side unless both are replaced.

i got the letter that everyone has mentioned. the one about the notice of a recall and i got it around the middle of 2015ish...anyway, should i call around at Toyota dealerships to see if they have the recall springs? from the sounds of it, some of you guys already got the springs replaced by bringing this up?

EDIT: also will they still replace the springs if there is no physical damage to them? the only real damage i have is the springs are pretty flat and the driver side spring is starting to twist out

I found KY was beginning the recall at the end of March and I called my local dealer today. They have 6 sets of springs on order and are expecting them in 5 days. They're supposed to call me when they come in.

Anything for Ohio. I haven't recieved anything in the mail.
I've had my 2011 tacoma AC for a year and a half. (Bought, October 2014 at a ford dealership)
I just checked my leaf springs and one is cracked and very much separated. It only had three leafs to begin with and you can see how the bump stop has rubbed.

    My question...
Are they going to fix this for free due to the TSB even though it is now broken? Or is it my fault because it's now broke?

I guess what I'm trying to avoid is taking it in and getting trapped by the stealership.

they should replace that for free. the whole point of the recall was to replace springs that are liable to break
