Has any sprayed their 3rd gen bed? Just curious and wanted to see if anyone has done it, opposed to just putting the rubber bed mat in

I doubt it would stick very well on the composite bed.

Yeah you would have to scuff it up pretty well for it to stick.

I hear the hard part is finding someone to do it. There's some kind of special primer too.
    From Little Rock Line-X...

Just get the bed mat and be done with it. Line-x ends up fading over time and can chip/peel off. I'd wait until the bed really looks like it needs it to even go down that path. And with the introduction of more composite parts coming in the future there will likely be improved product development coming down the pipe (from vendors like Line-X) to meet the market demand.

ditto,,,Truck already has a composite bed. Spraying is redundant IMO. Plus its a truck, the bed will get gouged and scratched if one is actually using it as a truck, Bedmat is the best protection.

As @splitbolt mentioned, it might be hard to find somebody to do it. When I was in Lemoore, I called the two local Line-X dealers nearby and they said they don't do it because it won't stick. One of them said they'd do it but it wouldn't be warrantied; also I only wanted the bottom of the bed lined but would still cost the same as the whole bed (fuck that noise!) so that quickly made up my mind.

I was transporting an empty metal storage box in the back of my truck once and that thing slid around like crazy. It put some scuffs/scratches in the composite and even nicked it in a few spots. Ended up getting a bed mat so things wouldn't slide around as much, but after that incident, I want the rest of the bed protected as well.

I searched on Google and there are a few who have done it and say it's held up, but not enough reviews out there to have it done myself.

Couldn't find any decent spray shop in Houston that would stand behind the work due to the composite. Got an OEM Bed mat. It's great.

I talked to our line x guy here and he said it wouldn't be a problem to do it he's done many composite beds as for the fading for $100 more they have a uv protector that warranties fading for basic i was priced $500 for uv protector it's $600

I had a line-X in my 2004 for 12 years and no fading or chipping. Great product in my experience. Having said that, I see no point in doing a spray in liner on a composite bed. Bed mat for me also.

$500 or $600 is steep, you can do a bed rug for less (if they have a 2016 version yet.)

I had it in my 2003 for 8 years. It chipped in several spots from sliding heavy equipment in and out. I also had some in a Ford Ranger and it faded and looked like crap after a few years. Bed mat will stop most sliding but line-x will not do well for this.

A composite bed is flexible so line-x will probably chip. Badly.

Pretend we have a piece of plastic. we cover it with a thin layer of water and then we freeze it. The iced layer of water will crack instantly if you twist the plastic.

I'll be surprised if you can wear out the composite bed. Don't worry about the little details guys. It's a truck.
