Let me guess, dump truck didn't know where to go so he drove down there and got stuck, dozer tried to pull him out and he got stuck so the excavator had to go rescue them?

Almost; they were all working down there. Six trucks running. The bottom is actually pretty solid even with the water there - there is a hardpan layer about a foot down from where they are, but then one of the trucks hit a soft spot and it just went downhill from there.

not quite, we manufacture multi-function tribometers for metal wear testing - ball/pin on disk, linear reciprocating, block on ring, four ball, extreme pressure/high temp, etc. tests, as well as some optical equipment to analyze the wear. we're not testing the lubrication itself per se, rather the behavior of various materials under the influence (or absence) of lubrication

edit: although that's not to say the end user wouldn't be testing lubrication, i suppose its just a different method, looking for other variables

I know I'm nearly two months late replying to you both, but trains have always intrigued me. What does the career path for a train conductor look like? Do you have to start in the yard, or is there a way to fast track to the cockpit?

No you don't have to start in the yard, it's basically wherever your seniority can hold. Currently I'm in the yard because it's been slow but once the grain season starts around September I will be able to hold the road. The cool thing about railroading is there is a lot of options. You can work the yard in the summer and be home every night then in the winter when it's raining/snowing you can work the road and stay warm. I hired on almost 2 years ago and it's been cool so far. My favorite run is from Auburn to Pasco through the mountains, then Pasco to Vancouver along the Columbia, then back up to Auburn along the water. For BNSF if you work the road hard you can make 110-120,000 a year as a conductor. Yard wages are less. Make about 275 a day for 7.5 hours. Benefits are great so is retirement. You will work weekends for a long time until seniority gets better in the yard but it doesn't bother me. The guys you work with are usually really cool I've met lots of friends. Most guys are like us. Like trucks and hunting etc... Any questions you can PM me if you're really looking into it.
