Well, I plasti dipped my emblems and had a little over spray I was trying to rub off. It was starting to get dark and To speed things up I thought I would use a sponge, not realizing I had the rough green side down. After about 5-10 strokes it hit me, I'm scrubbing with the abrasive side...:frusty:

Looked at the sponge and there's my white paint. :annoyed:

So, any paint experts out there know what to do? You can see it in the light where I obviously sanded off the clear coat. It's kind of large area too, about 1/3rd of the door....

Yes, I'm a moron. But I finished using a microfiber towel.

just remember next time you are plasti dipping. any citrus cleaner will remove it right off as the citrus will melt it off.
So thats also something to remember since you dipped something dont use any citrus cleaners on your dipped parts or it will melt the dip off of it

    Subbing for the pics.

You'll most likely have to get the whole door repainted.

initially I wanted to laugh, but then I put myself in your position and I could see myself jumping up and down and cursing up a storm, so I got out about 1/2 a second of a little smirk. Yea best bet body shop.

Historically Tacoma white and black paints do not have a clear coat ( I believe it is all non metallic colors ) they are a single stage paint which is probably why you saw white paint on your scuff pad so quick. The good news is that with some wet sanding to get through any deep scratches you made and then buffing it out it is very easily fixed.

This is good to hear. I did some research and it looks like the super white is a single stage paint. Looks like I'll try and find a good details shop to do that. I'm not letting myself touch the paint again.

I would try some rubbing compounds to try and lighten up the scratches then maybe a quick buff. Then a good coat of wax. Hopefully that will help
