Black Smoke when I floor it

    I've been driving like a paw paw lately and rarely do I floor it. However, I noticed a large puff of black smoke came out when I floored it the other day. I'm guess it was some carbon deposits. Anyone else have thoughts on that?

    Considering the cost of both fuels I'm sure somebody would be more than happy to help you out with that. ;)

    Anyway, have you tried flooring the thing since the black smoke incident? If it only happened 4 or 5 times and was clean after that you've probably got nothing to worry about. Was there any hesitation, weird engine noise, or any other suspect things that went along with the smoke?

    I've only noticed it a few times. I don't like flooring it, so I haven't been able to check it again. Everything seems fine. I was really just curious.

    I floor mine on a regular basis, I've never seen black smoke come out. Only thing I can suggest it to make sure your oil isn't over filled.

    Its normal. The ECU goes into "open loop" and the injectors deliver max fuel for which the rpm you are at. You should see a little smoke. It will be most visable at night if you have someone behind you with their lights on and you then "floor" it. :)
