no its flies, not bees, but then again bee's make more sense, maybe it's a regional thing. I have always heard flies.

Ok time for an update; I'll edit the opening post w/ this info as well.

Got a call from the service manager today letting me know that they finally got the green light from corporate to replace the Transfer Case and the ECU, but then during the replacement, they realized the Transmission was messed up. That's right - now it's time to replace the Transmission as well. What he now thinks happened is that the Transmission already had a weak spot, and once the Transfer Case solenoid screwed up and got it stuck in between 4wd and 2wd (although the ECU thought it was fully back in 2wd), the torque from the Transfer Case snapped something in the Transmission.

I guess I look at it this way; if something was already weak in the Transmission, I'm glad it all went out now so once I do get it out of the shop, I (hopefully) won't have to take it back for another repair for a very long time.

How long do you plan on keeping when the dealer returns it to you. If it were me I would hold on to it for several months and trade it in
    Anyway good luck

Why? You think it's a lemon? I see it like this - it's going to have a new transfer case, tc ecu, and transmission now, and the dealership doing the repair has a lot of eyes on them from corporate (they've been involved since day 1 since this happened at low miles on a new generation and they want to make sure it's not a weak-link that may affect other trucks out there) so I know the repair will be done correctly. And if I have any more problems, this is now on the record so it goes back to their repair.

Besides, I have an unlimited mileage lifetime warranty on the motor and drivetrain from the dealership that sold it to me, so it's covered. And I haven't had all any of the other issues that I've read other 3rd generation owners having so overall I think I got a good build, it just had a moment of quirkiness that will hopefully be fixed and behind me soon.

well what are the odds of something else going bad.... my guess is pretty low. At least they are going to take are of what's needed. Good luck and great attitude considering the mess. Dunno if I could be so mild about it.

Posted this on the "what have you done today..." Thread. Broke down on the highway coming after about an 1.5 hrs of driving this past Monday. Earlier in the morning I had used 4x4 on the highway, snow covered, and switched in and out of 4hi to 2wd several times over the 2 hr drive. Snow cover was bad at times and not bad at others which is why I switched. Did this at about 45/50 mph driving straight. No issues when I arrived at my destination. Parked the car and left it in 2wd. On the ride home I didn't engage 4x4 at all because all the snow had melted and driving conditions were fine. Trac light began flashing at about 70 mph engine light came on and power died out. Towed to the dealer w toyota care. They have had it since Monday and told me last night that it's the fuel injectors. I'm hesitant to believe this, as the trac light was flashing and it took them 3 days of testing to conclude it was just fuel injectors? Getting some buyers remorse right about now.

I would want to know what specifically went wrong with the injectors: clogged, internal short to ground, bad o-ring seals sucking air, etc. If not the injectors, then was it a FI harness problem, computer problem, fuel pump, fuel pressure. Agree that it sounds a little fishy, but hard to know without more details. Are they only replacing the injectors?

It sounds like they are starting with that. I got one of the first ones that rolled off the line in October 2015, so I think that's part of the problem.

Ok finally got the Taco back today - 3 weeks to get it repaired. New transmission, transfer case, and ECU, and yes, my transmission levels are correct as well : )

I hope none of you guys have this same issue. That was a painfully long time to go without my new truck. Now back to doing some mods!

Also got my Tacoma back today. They have had it since 3/21 - 8 business days according to lemon law. It's been so long since I have driven it that I can't tell if it feels different than before the repairs. Trans feels a little sluggish even in etc pwr mode.

The only parts replaced were fuel injectors so I find it hard to believe that was/is the only issue. I was told the best tech in the NE region was working on my truck. Why would it take 8 days to diagnose and fix fuel injectors?

Also - windshield noise was "reduced" but not eliminated. Dealership told me they (Toyota) hasn't come up with a full fix for it yet but eluded to the fact that toyota knows this noise is an issue on a ton of 2016 trucks. YouTube is blowing up with videos of the issue. I got a call from Toyota care telling me it was a "normal operating noise". BS it's enough to drive someone insane.

Happy to have my truck back but feeling like this shouldn't happen with a brand new 40k$ vehicle...not sure what I'm looking for from the situation. I paid about 2000$ for the extended warranty...has anyone sought restitution from Toyota in a similar situation, like having them pay you back for the ext warranty??

It took 2 weeks to replace a cracked coolant bypass valve on my truck. Your turn around was quick ;)
