I don't know what I want now, i really doubt i need all the power of the 525, but then the 450-400 weigh the same or more as the 525.

Have you ridden your 400 at like 50mph for a good period of time?

maybe i should go with something smaller like a 250, be more practical, but i want power! lol

I'm working with what I have dude. I like the platform I chose. Just want to improve upon it.

Weight savings are almost as equally valuable as power gains. Right now, i can't get any more power without $500-600 in a carb and $300-400 in a set of cams. So weight savings it is.

I rode my drz400 for about 119 miles at speeds from 40-80 averaging around 55-60. All in one day. With a bunch of cruisers. There was about an hour break in the middle of the ride and i was glad to have it. My ass was numb. But when i got home, i wasn't that tired. Playing with the ergos on this bike has really helped. Wider pegs, fatter bars that sit up higher and flex more, pillow top grips...

How was the power riding there? Could it still accelerate hard?

Anyone have any input on the ktm 350 exc-f or xcf-w ?

Is it only a newer model? When did they start making them?

    I'm anywhere from 400-3000ft elevation.

The bike makes great power and accelerates hard to about 85mph, then it just creeps up into the mid to high 90s.

I think the 350 came around about 2012. Only KTM i'd want. They're super light and torquey. Probably the perfect 4stroke trail bike

    Lol! I'm 5'10" with a tall torso and short legs at a 29" inseam. I can't get
In my opinion you can't go wrong with a 350 to a 500 KTM. The 500 will be much better on the street, but how often are you on the street? If you want to twist the throttle and laugh like an evil geniuses who's about to reveal his evil plan get the 500. If you will almost never go above 55mph get a 350 or 450 and be done with it. If you want to feel like you got friendzoned by a hot babe buy a DRZ400.

I will say this, I had a Suzki, then a street bike, then another suzuki, and then a KTM 950 Adventure. Once I drank the orange kool-aid I can't enjoy riding anything else because everything else feels slow, with horrible shitty suspension now  :bikewheelie: :bikewhoops:

I may be experimenting with hard alcohol, frozen fruit, and a blender though so take that for what it's worth. :D

Well it's more tactics then anything. See I'm in school now with mostly women (nursing program). Most women like fruity drinks; so when they come over I will have a recipe of fruity alcoholic beverages to prepare.

Well i ride the street quite a bit. But its just getting to school,or me and my mom or dad may go for a ride around town. They both have Harleys. Usually stay off the highway unless needed getting to get to some dirt/gravel roads. My dad just got another xr650 so I think we will be going out and riding on trails exploring more often, we have already done a few short trips and it was a blast! But we still cruise on the pavement on the back roads too. Going 45-55 for good periods of time. Ride alot of gravel too.

So if i am ever going over 55, its not for a very long time. I personal don't want to go that fast for that long. Not very comfortable at all.

Like I love the 650 power but i personally dont need it, at all. Not for what we are doing. So the 500 would be unneccesary. It seems to stay light to go with the wr450f, ktm 350 or 450. The drz seems like a good bike, but its not a whole lot lighter then the xr, not compared to the other bikes I listed.

The KTM350 would feel as powerful or more as your 650 because its so much lighter.

Yeah it seems like an awesome bike. Could it even be a bike to possibly race in hare scrambles? Always wanted to do that. My dad raced in quite a few.

How cheap do you think they would go for? Probably way to much for me to spend on a dirt bike lol

KTMs are salty dude. Always expensive unless they are:

    A. Blown up
    B. Ridden stupid hard and not maintained well enough.
