Break reservoir is full. I'll try to get a non dirty color sample tomorrow

 

Either wipe it clean and then get in and pump your brakes a few times to see if it leaks.

 

I did that earlier when I first noticed it. But I just pulled forward until the wheel was at a dry spot and I pumped them and didn't notice any more fluid pooling up.

 

I'm guessing it's gear oil if you could smell it from that far away

 

Yeah I smelt it when I was crouching down to check the pressure. That's when I noticed the puddle. The thing is it happened in about 15 mins from when I got air in the tires to when I got home.

 

X2 on gear oil. Your inside of the drum brake may be nasty.

 

Probably an axle seal leaking gear oil if you can smell it from crouched position. That sucks man. What's your mileage at? Pretty sure that's covered under the drivetrain warranty. You're pretty much stock so it might be easy to get it taken care of.

Just to be sure, your dip your finger in the brake fluid in the reservoir and smell it to compare.

 

Your shop reminded me of Fallout 3 for some reason.

 

That's what happens with 63 years of using that as our main shop on the farm. Luckily new shop is being put up in june. 60'×120'

 

My dad told me this weekend he is building a barn on his property. I forget the dimensions but it will be more than enough room for my truck

 

I'm sure that's why he is building it. I know my dad built his for Frank...........

 

18' walls. 40' foot door. I also convinced the old man if i pay for a lift we will install it. 2 post style.

 

I know where ill be going next time I have to work on my truck haha.

Well shit I just had a break job done during Christmas break since they froze up on my dad.

I'm about to roll 139,000. My extended warranty ran out about 6,000 miles ago. I'll do some sniffing tomorrow.

 

Hmm you may be able to talk with whoever did the brake job. Little wierd this is happening fairly soon after that.

 

I'll try that. I went back to Florida for break and left it at my parents for a week while I went to California. When my dad tried to take it in for a full check up the rear tires were frozen from sitting there for about a week. So I'm pretty sure they at least cleaned both rear breaks when they were in there. So hopefully the Florida Toyota dealer can talk to the Laramie one about what they did
